BAKING TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

A. Preparatory Tools
FLOUR SIFTER- is a kitchen device that
looks like a cup with a handle and a mesh
strainer on the bottom. Some sifters have
mechanical blades that help push the flour
through the mesh, while others don't.

ROLLING PIN- is a long, thin cylinder


used to flatten dough into sheets, rolling it out
on a wooden or marble board. It has two
handles on the side, making it easier to use. It
can be made of wood or plastic.

GRATER- a tool that has a rough metal


surface with small holes and is used to cut
food into small pieces.
SPATULA – comes in different sizes; small
spatula are used to remove muffins and
molded cookies from pans which is 5 to 6
inches; large spatula for icing or frosting
cakes; flexible blade is used for various
purposes.

UTILITY TRAY – is used to hold


ingredients together.

PASTRY BRUSH – is used in greasing pans


or surface of pastries and breads
B. Mixing Tools

MIXING BOWLS – a hollow dish where


ingredients for baking are mixed

ROTARY EGG BEATER – a handheld


device for beating eggs, cream and other
liquid

RUBBER SCRAPER – a tool used, for


mixing and scraping mixture on the side of
the bowl

WOODEN SPOON – a tool used for


different types of mixing and stirring flour
