Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

This section presents the background of the study, the statement of the problem where the

research questions are enumerated, the scope and delimitation of the study, and the significance

of the study which discusses the benefits and beneficiaries of the study.

INTRODUCTION

(Insert on the first paragraph about the major importance of using computers
in our daily lives and in the present generation, cite theories or concepts from
articles or journals about the importance of having computer lab in a school

This chapter provides a brief overview of the topic "The Development of Computer

Laboratory for the Computer System Servicing Students in Corazon C. Aquino High School for

the School Year of 2022-2023." First and foremost, we have chosen this topic because it is

directly related to our Major Subject, Computer System Servicing (CSS), and doing so, will

benefit and help improve the development of our institution and, more specifically, our school.

Furthermore, we have chosen this study to help the case of the CSS students’ experiencing

various amounts of problems like lack of equipment, shortage of power outlets,

unusable/defective computer systems and so on. Because of this problem in the Computer

Laboratory, the number of students who can use and utilize the computers in the Laboratory is

limited. This research will help to solve that problem while also being beneficial to current and

future CSS students. This will greatly improve and make studying and teaching in the Computer

Laboratory much easier. Teachers will no longer have to deal with issues relating to the

equipment required to carry out the activities carried out by students. Furthermore, computer

laboratories are important because this is where students learn and work with software programs.

In conclusion, I.T. labs are essential and let students gain their digital and practical skills without

having to worry too much about spending money on their own hardware because it is provided

by the school. In conclusion, computer labs are essential for students studying ICT (Information

and Communication Technologies) and CSS. This study aims to improve the usage and

equipment found inside Corazon C. Aquino High School's computer lab.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM :

This study aims to assess the development of computer laboratory for the Computer

System Servicing Students in the Senior High School Department of Corazon C. Aquino High

School for the School Year of 2022-2023 and to determine how we can improve the computer

laboratory of the same school.

Specifically, this study aims to accomplish the following:

1. What can be the possible improvement that can be made in the Computer Laboratory, in

terms of:

1.2. conduciveness

1.3. cleanliness

1.4. safetiness?

2. Which organization can provide our needed equipment and tools?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will be undertaken to have clues or solutions to deliver perfectly the lessons

for Computer System Servicing (CSS) students their basic and professional training program to

be expertise their strand, the Computer System Servicing “CSS “strand is more difficult to

understand or analyze if you are lack of equipments and there is no room for manipulation and

practice of skills. One mistake can be effectively addressed, one mistake is must so you should

be careful

when using computers because a mistake can cause a malfunction or error in his system.

CSS Students - The findings of this study will be helpful to the current students of Computer

Systems Servicing in terms of they will no longer think about the equipment that they need and

also they have room to practice themselves.

CSS Teachers - The findings of this research will be helpful to the current Computer

Systems Servicing Teachers in terms of they have a good and quality workplace and that

workplace has complete equipment. In that case they can teach their students without any

problems.

Parents of CSS Students - The findings of this study will be helpful to the parents of

Computer Systems Servicing Students in terms of their childrens can learn in this laboratory and

they will be no longer have problems about the expenses.

To the Future Researchers - This could serve as reference in case further studies, related or

not, will be conducted in the future.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The "Development of Computer Laboratory" and the related rehabilitation project will be

the study's main topics. The researchers decided to base their investigation only on one (1)

computer lab. The process used to renovate the computer lab in order to upgrade the computers

will be the main focus of the study. Recent research demonstrates that there were few functional

computers and that these had inadequate connections as a result of missing computer parts. The

research will evaluate and examine the many procedures and other associated events currently

being carried out to increase the number of operational computers and the quality of the

computer lab. The study will be organized according to how well it has progressed since the

computer lab's development in terms of the methods used to track quantitative improvement. The

researchers will speak with css students and teachers through interviews. The researchers will

conduct survey or interview to the ICT coordinator of Corazon C. Aquino High School Senior

High School Department and maximum of 20 students in grades 11 and 12 sudents taking up

CSS between the ages of 15 and 20 years old. The question will center on the reasons behind the

computer lab's development and any related occurrences. The researchers will be able to identify

factors influencing the presences of css students utilizing the "computer laboratory" based on

their response. In the development of the computer laboratory the researchers are planning to do

some upgrades or improvements to the lab. For instance: organizing the room, improve the

workplace , beautify the room, maintain the cleanliness of the room , and others.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Computer configuration - A system's configuration in communications or computer systems

refers to how each of its functional elements is organized in relation to their nature, number, and

distinguishing features. Configuration frequently involves picking the right hardware, software,

firmware, and documentation.

Computer lab - A computer lab is a location where a specific community can use computer

services. Typically, these are academic and public libraries. Typically, in order to keep access to

the computers, users must adhere to a specific user policy.

Public libraries - A public library is one that is open to the whole public and is typically

supported by public resources like taxes.

the HMDC develops the Computer laboratory in Harvard University and based on their article is

'In order to create a relaxing working environment for academics, visiting scholars, postdocs,

students, and employees in the Harvard and MIT communities, HMDC has numerous cutting-

edge public computing labs in collaborative open-space spaces. Access to workstations with a

wide range of statistics, GIS, and other frequently used desktop applications is provided by the

Public Labs without charge.' The scenario was , they make solution to improve the capacity of

the lab to be able to increase the numbers of possible users of their laboratory.

In the school of De La Salle University 'DLSU' To better accommodate instructors and

students, the computer lab underwent renovation. In response to the growing incorporation of IT

in engineering courses, V301 was changed into a computer lab. One of the famous university in

the Philippines are improved their computer laboratory trough renovation it is possible to

improve the workplace and also improve the computer laboratory

suitable to enhance their computer abilities, assisting them in becoming more competitive, and

world it is essential to improve our knowledge about technologies , because by the future more

because of "As technology continues to shape the future of society, In schools, computer labs are

a common sight. Schools are approving the use of computers and providing equipment since it is

part of the curriculum and helps kids become more tech-savvy." In that case we can improve our

knowledge about technologies and giving us a preparation for the future

Summary of the Review of the Related Literature:

In this modern world we prepare the new generation especially the students capable of

dealing with technology and modern times skills. The demand offer ICT learning has been

tremendous and the number of teachers who are trained cannot meet the demands. Lack of

computers; computers are still very expensive and despite spirited efforts by the government

agencies. In the country, the Philippines has the major problems of the students and teachers in

associating the computer and programming hardwares and softwares and lack of supplies of

computers and lack of teaching by the teachers. Computer System Servicing is basically

important to the students in this modem generation. Defined computer systems servicing as it

covers basic and common competencies such as installing, maintaining, configuring and

diagnosing computer systems and networks. ICT skills were mainly as informative, constructive,

communicative or situated tools. Some of the challenges students faced in acquiring ICT skills

were related to internet connectivity, lack of software and lack of practical skills. Between ICT

adoption and academic performance in a conservative environment. However the students major

was found to be making no impact on students academic achievement.
