BOOK REVIEW ESSAY

I have just finished reading a breathtaking novel entitled The

Fault In Our Stars. It is a mega bestselling novel written by a
renowned author, John Green. The novel which falls into the genre
of romantic fiction has impressed many young readers.
The story revolves around a teen girl, Hazel Lancaster, who is
diagnosed with a stage 3 cancer. She can hardly remember life
without cancer and has almost given up hope on her life. She then
meets Augustus Waters, a cancer survivor, who reads her favourite
books for her and hangs out with her. This helps her to gather
strength. The two of them deal with cancer and love.
I enjoy reading the novel as it was written in a terrific way. It
makes us become a part of the characters and feel the same
emotions. Hazel and Augustus appeal to readers through their
sense of humour and their courage. But behind this courage, both
of them hide their pain to protect their families. The moral values
that I learnt from the story is through a quote mentioned by
Augustus, "If you want rainbow, you have to deal with the rain"
which means if we want something desirable, we have to first go
through the hardships.
I would definitely recommend it to
anyone who believes in love and has the
courage to fight for it. Through this book
I realised that cancer not just touches
victims, but it also touches all those who
love.
