international trade, many of the things we take for granted would be more expensive – or poor
quality. Free trade can seem like an abstract concept, but it is a vital part of all our lives.

We don’t have to pay customs duties. Why? Because we are in a custom union.
The EU is a free trade area where is also a custom union, where we don’t pay taxes and
customs duties.
Free trade means that we can have the goods circulate in the area without restrictions.
The restrictions can be in taxes and customs duties or quotas.
No customs duties, no quotas, no subsidies to companies.
The company can sell the goods whenever they want.
