ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING 3Cs, 3Ss

The 3Cs (colour, camera, character) and the 3Ss, (story, setting, sound) can be used to help students
discuss and analyze all the elements of a film text. Working with the 3Cs and 3Ss enables students to
make connections between the features of all texts, and develop their decoding, encoding, reading and
writing skills.

Advantages of using 3Ss (Story, Setting, Sound)

●The advantages of using 3Ss is that it increases the production value and it evokes emotional
responses.

●Story- high motivation and active participation, a boost of creativity, cooperation between children,
deepening the understanding of a subject, and an increase in attention span.

●Setting- It can help the audience to understand the actions and emotional lives of the characters in the
story.

●Sound- sound is always used to enhance the movie experience.

Disadvantages of using 3Ss

●The disadvantages using 3Ss it doesn’t give any further reference to follow up; And may not always
give a fair representation of person or audience.

●story- people used only to and they can find it boring at a certain point.

●setting- if you use a real setting or scenario, you will have to connect up all the loose ends so that the
story remains believable.

●sound- sometimes it ruined the flow of the story not all sound pressures are equally good.
