PROJECT PROPOSAL

PROJECT TITLE: “Too big not to do big”

PREPARED FOR: Ms. Tin Guerrero,RSW

PREPARED BY: Group 1, BSSW students

RATIONALE:

The scarcity of water supply in some of the villages in Visayas and Mindanao and
the presence of contaminated water supply in barangays in the province of Bulacan as
presented in documentary videos by Ms. Kara David of i-witness.

A one (1) day seminar orientation will bring awareness to the residents of the
barangay in proper waste management, water conservation and to eliminate and
mitigate further problems of scarcity of clean water supply.

The “Tara na! Itanim at Linisin na natin ito!” (Name of the Activity) also aim to
raise awareness among the residents about the importance of planting and saving
trees, and the importance of clean water expressing our concern for the environment,
and diminishing the unfavorable effects of climate change. Also in building water
pumps, illegal connections with the private companies will be avoided.

BACKGROUND:

In Barangay Muti, Zamboanga City, citizens who couldn't afford to buy water
ended up turning to digging wells. Unfortunately, the dry soil has nothing but layers of
rocks and soil. Though there is a presence of a water facility, it doesn’t last longer and
support the needs in water of the residents in the area. While on the other hand, in rural
area in Sitio Lunasan in Jimalalud, Negros Oriental, there is a presence of water but still
not potable due to an infestation of algae and presence of bacteria.

Contaminated water supply is present in glass bottles, containers, and barrels

from many residences in Marilao, Bulacan. The resettlement area is polluted with black,
brown, and yellow particles of an undetermined contaminant left by water from pipes.
The source of water supply came from the water surface of the polluted river near the
residential area.

OBJECTIVES:

- To bring awareness to the residents regarding proper waste management and

conservation through conduct of seminar/orientation.
- To rehabilitate the area through tree planting and conduct of coastal clean drive.
- To enhance the knowledge of residents in improving filtration systems including
innovations on collection of rainwater through conduct of seminar/training.
- To conduct orientation that will enhance the policies and procedures that hinder
rural residents' access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene and strengthen
people's living situations in vulnerable communities.
- To avoid illegal connection with the private companies that cause scarcity and
polluted water.
- To be able to distribute adequate and quality supply of water thus, use of water
pumps can no longer be forced to be used by residents of the barangay in the
province of Bulacan.

Wildlife Fund (WWF) gives support Ningas-kugon
and are willing to fund tree planting
projects
● There are pending water pump
installation projects, and this is an
