SCARCITY ON WATER - PROJECT PROPOSAL & SWOT ANALYSIS - Group-1
RATIONALE:
The scarcity of water supply in some of the villages in Visayas and Mindanao and
the presence of contaminated water supply in barangays in the province of Bulacan as
presented in documentary videos by Ms. Kara David of i-witness.
A one (1) day seminar orientation will bring awareness to the residents of the
barangay in proper waste management, water conservation and to eliminate and
mitigate further problems of scarcity of clean water supply.
The “Tara na! Itanim at Linisin na natin ito!” (Name of the Activity) also aim to
raise awareness among the residents about the importance of planting and saving
trees, and the importance of clean water expressing our concern for the environment,
and diminishing the unfavorable effects of climate change. Also in building water
pumps, illegal connections with the private companies will be avoided.
BACKGROUND:
In Barangay Muti, Zamboanga City, citizens who couldn't afford to buy water
ended up turning to digging wells. Unfortunately, the dry soil has nothing but layers of
rocks and soil. Though there is a presence of a water facility, it doesn’t last longer and
support the needs in water of the residents in the area. While on the other hand, in rural
area in Sitio Lunasan in Jimalalud, Negros Oriental, there is a presence of water but still
not potable due to an infestation of algae and presence of bacteria.
OBJECTIVES:
PROJECT FINANCIALS:
Budget Proposals
CENRO/DAR/LGU's : 96,770.00
MSWDO's : 17,000.00
Though the group projected a budget for the purchase of seedlings to be used in
tree planting and installment of water pump (Poso), the group as future Social Welfare
will solicit from Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and
from Municipal Office of Department of Agriculture (DA) for trees to be planted and
fertilizers to be used. The group will also solicit a fund from Haribon Foundation, World
Wildlife Fund (WWF), LGU’s and MSWDO’s.
EXPECTED OUTCOME/DEADLINE:
3. Clean and potable water supply used by the residents of the area.
7. The water pump's output was suitably distributed with coordination to LGUs
and BLGUs.
EVALUATION:
This project will also be conducted through participation and collaboration with
NGOs, NPOs, and other concerned agencies and will be monitored by the project in
charge, Group 1, BSSW Students of SMMCL under the supervision of SWEPs 103
professor.
