Ethos is that element of communication which adds credibility to


the claim being made.

Vitamin water is positioned as a health drink which keeps you fit and
healthy.

LOGOS
convince an audience by using logic and reason
A logic-based argument appeals to a person’s sense of reason
Good logos-based rhetoric will persuade people because the argument is well-reasoned and based on fact
There are two common approaches to logos: deductive and inductive arguments
PATHOS
Appeals to

- Pathos aims to convince viewers by evoking an emotional response, also known as


"the emotional appeal."

- Dual components: it's "the emotional appeal," as well as the "quality/power" of the
emotional response
