Lesson Idea - Multimedia

Lesson Title Expanding and condensing Logarithms


Content Area In this lesson, we will learn how to expand and condense logarithmic function.
This content area is for algebra 2, grade level 10 th-12th high school math.

Content Standards MGSE9-12.F.BF.5 Understand the inverse relationship between exponents


and logarithms and use this relationship to solve problems involving
logarithms and exponents.

Importance of This type of multimedia allows students to interact with each other by sharing
Technology screens, audio, and video sharing. By this we are giving them a variety of
ways to display concepts and share their thinking. By giving the students
technology use, it allows them to be creative and for them to be able to share
their ideas by the means of projects and assignments.

Internet Safety and To minimize the risks for my students, I would make sure that any site that I
Student Privacy use in my class will not require any personal information from my students. I
will make sure that the technology that I will use in my class is student/ class
friendly which means it does not promote any adult content or any content
other that intellectual content. I would also advise my students to keep in
mind how to be a good digital student/ citizen and keep their information safe.
I will also make sure the website used matches all my districts’ data privacy
regulations. I will also ask the parent for their permission and explain how the
technology will be used in the course.

Universal Design I think videos are a great way to help students understand and it will also be a
Rationale great resource for them to come back and review. Videos offer many different
ways to help students. In this lesson students will be shown how to expand
and condense logarithms by using different identities. Students will be then
shown some problem and will be asked to work them out. This will allow them
to find solutions to the problems and deeper their understanding.
Lesson Idea This lesson will be a delivery of instruction and introduction to how to use
logarithmic identities to expand and condense a given log problem. First, I will
introduce the identities and then work few problems.
These problems will be for the students to see how these logarithmic
identities can be used to solve a log function. Finally, as an end ticket I will
ask students to create a video similarly to show and explain how they got their
solutions. This will be graded as an assignment.

Design Reflection After designing this lesson idea, I think that this lesson/ activity will highly
impact on how much a student understood about the topic as well as their
ability to create the video. This helps students to make connections with the
material and truly understand the concept.
