I. Identifying Information

Project Title: Lakbay Aral on Grains Drying Facilities

Implementing Agency: Municipal Agriculture Office

Location of the Project: Bamban, Tarlac

Proposed Budget: P20, 000.00

II. Rationale:

Republic Act 8178 better known as Rice Tariffication Law replaced Quantitative Import
restrictions on imported rice with tariffs of 35 to 40 percent and established the Rice Competitiveness
Enhancement Fund (RCEF) funded by tariff revenues.

One of the RCEF’s key components is rice farm mechanization and the municipality was among
its recipient. A grain dryer (6tonner) as per scheduled implementation will be installed by January 2023.
The LGU’s counterpart shall be the grains shed/warehouse located in Lourdes, Bamban, Tarlac. As per
initial inspection the supplier cited some adjustments.

To fully understand the operations of the dryer and see the actual size of the unit the municipal
agriculture office shall initiate a lakbay aral activity to some units installed by the same supplier. A
meeting with the units’ recipient will also be conducted to gain understanding on the dryer’s operation.

III. Objectives:

1. Benchmark best practices in the operations of grain dryer

2. Understand the features of the grain dryer
3. Determine the dryer’s floor dimensions to facilitate adjustment on the Lourdes warehouse
 IV. Methodology:

The Municipal Agriculture Office shall conduct a Lakbay Aral activity on December 2022, on the
installed dryer units within the Province of Tarlac.

This shall be participated by the 10 Agriculture Office Staff and 15 Farmers.

V. Budgetary Requirement:
