He wanted to start a trading business for spices and textiles. Until 1970, they lived in a two-
bedroom apartment in Bhuleshwar, Mumbai.
Later his father Dhirubhai purchased a 14-floor apartment block called ‘Sea Wind’ in Colaba.
He completed his schooling from Hill Grange Highschool at Paddar road, Mumbai. He
completed his BE in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Chemical Technology.
He enrolled for MBA at Stanford University but withdrew in 1980 to help his father build

He started to help Dhirubhai in running family business in 1981. By the time the business also
included products and services in retail and communication industries.
Reliance Jio has earned a top-five spot in the country’s telecommunication services since 2016.
As of 2016, he was ranked 38, and consistently held the title of India’s richest person on Forbes
magazine’s list for the past ten years.
His residence Antilia Building is one of the world’s most expensive private residences. Its value
reaches $1 billion...!
Bombay High Court later approved Indian Petrochemical Company Limited in December 2005.
Contributions to Society ;
Mukesh Ambani directed and led the creation of Reliance Petroleum Limited, the world’s
largest petroleum refinery at Jamnagar, India.
The refinery had the capacity to produce 660,000 barrels per day (33 million tonnes per
year) in 2010.
In December 2013, he announced the possibility of a “collaboration venture” with Bharti
Airtel for a 4G network in India.
In February 2016, he launched jio, its own smartphone brand named LYF. It was India’s
third largest selling mobile phone brand in June 2016.
During the 40th annual general meeting of RIL, he announced bonus shares in the ratio of
1:1. That was the country’s largest bonus issue in India.
