Group Performance Assessment Task:

Crisis Management Simulation


Course Name: CRI 322- Dispute Resolution and Crisis Management
Course Facilitator: Cherryfe M. España, RCrim
Course Outcome:  Demonstrate competence and broad understanding
in law enforcement administration, public safety and
criminal justice
Rationale  Crisis Management is a process designed to prevent
or lessen the damage a crisis can inflict on an
organization and its stakeholders.
 As future criminologists and public servants, students
should be able to gain competence in preventing and
handling crisis.
Instruction:  The class shall be divided into different groups to
form a Crisis Management Team with 3 members.
 The team will create crisis management roleplay
applying all the principles and procedures of crisis
management.
 I will be the one to assign the group with particular
crisis scenario to roleplay in order to avoid repetition.
 The performance shall be video recorded and will be
presented during our scheduled synchronous
meeting.
 Note: The spokesperson of the team will also be
asked during the synchronous meeting. The class will
act as the media.
Duration:  15-20 mins
Task Objective 1. To define and delineate the functions and
responsibilities of the Crisis Management Team (CMT)
in the conduct of crisis management;
2. To establish and harmonize the sequence of activities
that shall be conducted during crisis.

Activate core crisis management team members (such as safety lead, communications
manager, and liaison) and inform senior management.

Determine the status of the affected site or operation, and take any urgently required
steps to stabilize
Assess risk for secondary crises, such as environmental damage as a result of a plant
explosion
Set up lines of communication to local authorities and first responders when relevant
Establish a schedule and process for updates, such as conference calls at specific times,
and distribute the phone number to the CMT.

Find out the names of any employee who was injured or killed. Get contact
information for their spouses or family members. Consult with the leader to determine
who will call them
Debrief anyone who witnessed the incident.

Take notes of these interviews and start an incident log.

If any employees are in the hospital, assign a staff member to stay with them until
families arrive.
Start an incident investigation by documenting the situation with photos, videos, and
written narrative.
