5. Enjoy learning as you perform the task.

Q2_W1_Science 9- Consumer Chemistry_Explore that materials can be mixed together to

make new materials.
Introduction:
There are a lot of materials being combined or put together will form new materials or
substances. It is interesting to know how these mixtures are classified and formed in different
ways, namely: Solutions, Emulsions and Foams. The particles in a solution do not scatter a
light beam; in an emulsion particle of one liquid suspended in another; and in foams are always
in the gaseous state
Activity 1.1 Classify Me
Objective: Classify the solutions according to their final phase of solution.
Material: ammonia water, Napthalene (moth balls), sugar, chromium, iron, perfume
Directions: Study the solutions and complete the table by:
i. indicating the missing solute and solvent; and,
ii. identifying whether the given examples are solid, liquid or gas solutions.

Example Solution Solute Solvent Types of Solutions

Napthalene ball
evaporating
Ammonia water

Perfume while
evaporation
Stainless steel
(Chromium/Iron)
