VI. POST COMPETENCY CHECKLIST

This assessment is composed of 3 parts; Identification, Prove a Theorem, and

Values Integration. Accomplish the tasks and do not forget to read the instruction
carefully.

A. IDENTIFICATION. Provide on every blank the word/s as to which is described

by the sentence given in the respective item.

Society of Jesus 1. It is the religious order/group which Giovanni Giralamo

Saccheri belonged.
Tommaso Ceva 2. He is the mathematician who wrote Opuscula
Mathematica, and was a teacher of Giovannie Saccheri.
Logica Demonstrativa 3. It is the book that Saccheri wrote in Turin.
Euclides ab omni naevo vindicates 4. It is the title of the Saccheri’s book
which is translated to “Euclid’s Freed of All Blemishes”.
Right summer angles 5. It is the part of Saccheri quadrilateral that is always
90 degrees.
10 6. It is the age of Alexis Claude Clairaut when he began studying
mathematics.
Elements de Geometre 7. It is the book which Clairaut wrote in 1741; it
outlines the basic concept of geometry.
Measurement of land 8. It is what Clairaut used in comparing geometric
shapes, in his book (which we translate as) Element of Geometry.
Physics 9. It is the main branch of science which Clairaut got different
concets to relate into geometry.
Straight line 10. By Clairaut’s definition, it is the shortest line form one point
to another.
B. PROVE A THEOREM. Choose any of the statement below and prove it.
2. In a Saccheri quadrilateral, the segment joining the midpoints of the
summit and the base is perpendicular to both the summit and the base.

F G R

L J M

Let LMRF be a Saccheri quadrilateral, J be the midpoint of LM, and G be

the midpoint of FR. Then LF ≅ MR and ∢L and ∢R are both right. Since J is the
midpoint of LM, we have LJ ≅ LM, Therefore, △LJF ≅ △MJR by SAS, and we see
that FJ ≅ RJ. Hence, △FJG ≅ △RJG by SSS because G is the midpoint of FR. These
yields ∢FGJ ≅ ∢RGJ, which means that these are right angles. Similarly, we can
show that ∢LJG and ∢MJG are right angles.

C. VALUES INTEGRATION. Answer the questions below presented inside the box
and minimum-number-of-words requirement of 100 words.

When was the last time you prove something to

people? What are the right action did you take to
convince them with your point? Was easy? Was it
successful? Tell more about it.

I am the kind of person that don’t like to argue or to prove something to

someone. But there is one incident that I trying hard to tell my point to my
classmate way back in senior high, grade 11 to be specific. I didn’t remember the
whole thing but it is happen in the Probability and statistic subject when we have
our assignment and I was showing my answer with my one of my classmate, then
she figure out that we have different answer and start discussing. While having a
discussion with my classmate we are exchanging our thought and idea about the
problem but she believe that her answer is correct that’s why I decided to respect
her answer. To be honest it hard to convince someone with my point because we
have different perception and if that person is close minded it would be a
challenge to prove my point. And When the time that we are checking our
assignment and I got the correct answer that means she got the wrong one, after
the class she come with my seat and told me that “I hope I listen to you”. And the
moral lesson that I get from this situation that we need to be open minded and
accept the idea of everyone and try to figure out which one is correct because
not all the time we are right.
