BSECE III BES 02

116. Who is an entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new business, bearing most of the risks
and enjoying most of the rewards.

125. What are the causes of fall in the rate of growth in productivity in the industrially
advanced countries like the U.S.A. in recent years?
The growth of productivity, which is the most significant long-term determinant of living
standards, has been sluggish since 2004 and dismal since 2010. The output per hour worked is the
simplest way to measure productivity. Multifactor productivity growth measures the rate of
technological change and accounts for the contribution of capital and materials.
Many researchers, commentators, and policymakers have been extremely dissatisfied in their
attempts to comprehend and address the slow productivity growth. Recent research, including that
presented at the Brookings productivity conference on September 8 and 9, 2016, demonstrates that
significant progress has been made toward a better understanding of the situation, even though
numerous significant questions remain. Additionally, this permits policies that may accelerate
growth.
