Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
A. Preparatory Activities

a. Prayer

Before we start our class today, may I request everyone

to please! Stand.

Requesting a student to lead the prayer.

“Dear Heavenly Father. Thank you for the

hundredfold blessings. Help us multiply love
and respect to others.
Divide our God given talents so that we may
become blessings to them. And subtract wrong
actions, and grudges in our hearts.
Add us with knowledge and wisdom to
understand our lessons as we walk through
despite educational challenges we may face. In
Jesus Name, Amen.

b. Greetings
Good morning Sir Junrey! Good morning
Classmates.
Alright! Good morning Class!

Before we move on to our lesson for today. Please!

Pick-up some pieces of papers under your chair, and
arrange your chairs properly.

c. Health Protocols

1. Wear your facemask properly. Do not place it under your

jaw.
2. Maintain social distancing.

d. Golden Class Rules

Rule 1: Listen carefully when others are speaking.

Rule 2. Sharpen your mind and Cooperate with each other.
Rule 3. Follow the given instructions.

e. Review
Students possible answer;
Let’s have a short review.
1.Union of set is the set of the combination of
1. What is union of set? elements of the two given sets.
2. What intersection of set?
2. Intersection of set is the set whose elements is
the common elements of the two given set.

Very Good!
f. Motivation
Do you still remember in your elementary years in adding No sir!
sign numbers?
Lets have try to solve this one.
Students possible answer:
1. (-1)+(-1)=
6. -2
2. 8+(-2)=
7. 6
3. 5 – (-3)=
8. 2

g. Presentation of the Lesson

Set back and relax because we will going to discuss more
about Fundamental Operation of Integers (Addition and
Subtraction).
h. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (1 min)

At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:

a. performs fundamental operations on integers.(Addition
and Subtraction)
B. Activities
Now, We will do an activity in titled “Group Your
Self”and I will group you in four groups. And maintain
social distancing and always wear your face mask.
General Instructions: In your group choose a leader and a
secretary and write the list of your members of your group
in a ¼ sheet of paper. Perform the given tasks within 3
minutes.
Activity 1
The following are addition of integers with answer. Students Possible answer:
1. (+8)+(+5)= 1. +13
2. (-2)+(3) = 2.1
3. (-2) - (+5)= 3.3
4. (-5) - (+3)= 4.-2
C. Analysis
1. How did you came up with the answers?
------Teacher call a student to answer-----
Very Good! Students possible answer may vary

2. How did you add or subtract the numbers given?

D. Abstraction
Now, we will go dipper in Fundamental operations of
Integers
What is integers?
It is a number that consist of signs.

Example
Negative Integers (-)
-1,-2,-3,-4,-5….

Positive Integers(+)
1,2,3,4,5,6…..

Note: Positive integers is okay with sign or without sign.

Addition of Integer

Adding integers with the same sign

Example:
Add the following:
1. (+5) + (+2)
2. (-3) + (-2)
Solution:

In adding sign number we used the Line number

system.

But how can we use the number line.

In adding the sign numbers we follow the steps in using the

line number system.

First is we count the distance of the first number or the

first Addend from zero.

1. (+5) + (+2) The first number is +5 so we count

from zero to the right since it
is a positive integers.

Second is we add two more steps to the right since the

second number or the second ADDEND is positive.

---------------Students listen to teacher-----

Try to solve number two.

Adding sign numbers with different sign.

Example:
1. (-5) + (3)
2. (8) + (-5)

Solution:
1. (-5) + (3)
In adding integers with different sign still we follow
the following steps.

First is we count the distance of the first number or the -----Students Listen to the Teacher----
first Addend from zero.

Since the first addend is negative we go to the left

starts from zero.

Second is we go backward since the second addend is

positive.

Thirds, we go backward from -5 since the second addend is

positive 3, so the answer will be:
1. (−¿5) + 3= −¿2

Solve for number 2.

In subtraction of integers we follow the

steps.

Example:
1. (8) – (9)
2. 3 – (-3)
3. (−¿3) – (−¿ 3)
4. (−¿2) – (3)
Solution:
1. (8) – (9)

Step 1. Change the sign of the subtrahend.

9 will change to -9

Step 2. Subtraction become addition.

1. 8 + (-9)

Step 3. Perform the operation. Since they have different

sign we subtract there absolute value
and copy the sign of the greater number.

1. 8 + (-9)= -1

It can also represent it with the used of line number

system and it is shown below.

The answer of the other number will be:

Subtract Step 1 Step 2 Result

2. 3 – (-3)= 3 + (+3)= 6

3. (−3)−(−3) (−3 ) +3=¿ 0

=
4. (−2)−(3)= (−2)+(−3) −5
=

E. Application
With the same group Perform the given task in 10 minutes.
Directions: Perform the indicated operation in each
number.
A.
1. 5 – 3
2. (-2) – 3
3. (-1) – (-2)
4. 5+5
5. -3 + -2

B. Answer the following questions

1. Create a rule based on your understanding in adding

integers and subtracting integers.

Generalization
In adding integers we can also follow the rule of addition of
Integers.

Rules of Addition of Integers

1. If we add sign numbers having the same sign,
add there absolute value and copy there common
sign.
Example:
Absolute value

1. (+5 )+ (+3)= +8 or 8
2. (−¿ 2) + (−¿3) = −¿5

Sign

2. If we add sign numbers having different sign,

subtract there absolute value and copy the sign of
the greater number.

Example:
1. 9 + (−¿ 6) = 3

2. 8 + (−¿ 10) = −¿ 2
Based on the steps, it can generate a rule in Subtraction of
Integers.
Rule of Subtraction in Integers

1. If we subtract sign numbers changed the sign of

the subtrahend and proceed to addition.
Students answer Mya Vary

Values Integration
What does addition and subtraction of integers tell us in our
daily live?
------Teacher call a student to answer-------
Wow! That’s Amazing
IV. Evaluation
Directions: In one half crosswise perform the indicated
operation in each numbers
1. 5 – (-3)
2. -6 – (3)
3. (-3)+ 5
4. (-8)+(-2)
5. 15 + (-11)
V. Assignment
Directions: Answer the following numbers in your
notebook and perform the indicated operation.
1. 9 – (-9)
2. 9–3
3. -2 – (-3)
4. (-5) + (-3)
5. (-3) + (5)
