Answer:
Position Paper-Legalization of Marijuana

For a long time, marijuana has been a contentious topic not only in United States but
also in the whole world. It is known to provide both joy and a distinct emotion simultaneously. It
can also treat a variety of ailments. However, the decision to sign or not sign the legalization of it
by politicians is divided. In a previous interview, Senator Panfilo stated, "If we are to legalize
marijuana, we must be worried that it will be employed strictly as a prescription and not for
recreational reasons merely." Despite the overuse issue, lawmakers continue to advocate for its
legalization for medicinal use only. In my opinion, we should also think about legalizing it.
According to a National Institute for Doing the Abuse article, marijuana is a highly
addictive substance that causes users to use it more and become more reliant on it- one of the
reasons Filipinos oppose legalizing it is this problem.
However, according to the World Health Organization, Cannabis can also treat
numerous diseases. Thus, legalizing it would increase the likelihood that many illnesses will be
cured, which are beneficial to many Filipinos.
Moreover, there are countries like Philippines that has a tropical environment, which
makes it simple for marijuana to grow, which is why there is a lot of Marijuana being grown
there as an income-generating endeavor. For cannabis to grow, Mr. Lax Amana, a specialist in
environmental science from the University of the Philippines, says. We are a nation of farmers,
as we all know, and if we can educate them on how to cultivate it, that will provide them with
another kind of income.
Hence, the United States crime rate might drop if Marijuana is legalized. According to a
2017 CNN news program, Columbia's drug-related crime rate dropped up to 30% after legalizing
Marijuana. Shabu addicts may decide to switch to Marijuana if this substance is made legal in
our nation.
All in all, legalizing this substance is necessary since it has the potential to treat illnesses,
increase revenue, and reduce drug-related crimes in our nation. However, lawmakers in the
United States and also in the other countries need to make sure that legalization of Marijuana
includes all the precautions necessary to avoid marijuana usage as a recreational drug.
