Assignment 1: Essay Outline (20%)

1. Students are divided into group (3). Each group will produce an academic essay Outline.
2. Each group can choose one type of essay and a suitable topic. Consultation with lecturer
is required.
3. Students are required to read related articles. The articles could be: (online / printed
newspaper articles, published research papers, journals, academic articles, educational/
academic magazine articles and etc.)
4. Students are to abide to APA Citation style in writing this academic essay outline.

Documents to be prepared:
a) KUPTM Assignment Cover page
b) An Outline (refer: Outline template)
c) Reference List

Below are the Outline’s guidelines:

An Essay Outline consist of:
i. Introduction
ii. Body Paragraphs
iii. Concluding Paragraph
: Introduction + Thesis Statement
: Topic sentence (s) + supporting detail(s)
: Refutation Paragraph/ Transition Paragraph
: Re-statement of Thesis + Recommendation(s)

Your essay outline should be written in Arial 11, 1.5 spacing.
