NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE OATH TAKING CEREMONY

FOR THE A.Y. 2022 - 2023

Audio Visual Room | Face-to-Face Meeting

The Central Student Government (CSG) of Caraga State University Cabadbaran City
conducted an oath taking ceremony on November 03, 2022 from 01:00 PM - 05:00 PM. The
event took place face-to-face at Caraga State University Cabadbaran City, particularly at the
Audio Visual Room. “Equipping Student Leaders with the Building Blocks of Leadership in the
21st Century and CSU Core Values” was the theme for the said event. The oath of office was
administered as a symbol of the officers' commitment and trust in becoming the students' voice.
It aimed to have a new set of student leaders that will help to uphold all the mission and vision
of the school.
An attendance sheet was prepared for all the officers who were present during that day.
The program started with the preliminary activities which are Opening Prayer to be followed by
the singing of the Philippine National Anthem then the CSUCC Hymn and lastly the ASEAN
Hymn through video presentation. Mr. Earl Christian D. Villanueva, as the Incoming Vice
President of CSG, hosted the oath-taking ceremony. The welcome message was given by Mrs.
Gina A. Vargas - OSAS OIC Director, who welcomed everyone that were present inside the
room and wished the newly elected officers the best of luck. After that, the university chancellor
Dr. Marilyn B. Castillo delivered her inspirational message and the induction of CSG Officers
and spoke a very enlightening talk. The chancellor mentioned about the voting of the CSU
President and said that the candidates are all qualified and whoever will win, he/she truly
deserves the position. She also stated that she’s hoping that the student officers will work hard
for the betterment of CSU Administration in Cabadbaran and that they need cooperation to
improve furthermore the CSUCC. The chancellor asked for a pictorial with the officers first
because she might not be able to finish the program for some urgent meeting. Then it was
followed by an oath taking of newly elected officers led by Dr. Marilyn B. Castillo.
Next was the bequeathal speech by the CSG Outgoing President, Mr. Janber Gabriel
Engell Tanudra through google meet platform. His long speech talked about how thankful he is
to everyone behind the success during their term and left an encouraging message to the newly
elected officers. Afterwards, the CSG Incoming President, Mr. Elimelech A. Mendoza V
conveyed his acceptance speech. According to him, it was a mere principle to lead at first and
then someone shared to him a very nice quote that changed how he perceived leadership. That
quote is “Leadership is not a position but an action” and this has been his principle to lead even
without a position. He ended his speech with this statement, “I, Elimelech A. Mendoza V,
pledge to do my best to honor the CSUCC legacy and take it forward and I am thrilled to have
the opportunity to lead the Central Student Government, in support of my lifelong passion to
improve and to continue the CSUCC and to take it to a better horizon. And with that, I,
Elimelech A. Mendoza V will accept the challenge of our Outgoing CSG President, Mr. Janber
Gabriel Engell Tanudra. Thank you.” Lastly, a message of gratitude was given by the CSG
Adviser, Ms. Marisol Jane M. Beray. As mentioned by her, she was inspired by the quote she
heard from a senior that says “The passion to lead is fueled by the will to serve”. She also
stated in her last message that “Treasure and enjoy the moments of being an officer and allow
every opportunity to honed you to become a better person, to become a better citizen”.
From then on, a photo opportunity was done to remember that important and remarkable
moment. Indeed, the event was a success for all the student leaders who solemnly pledge to
uphold their responsibility and use the power they have for the benefit of the students and the
university.
