II. Project Summary

2
As the world progress into developing new advancements, we, the researchers aim to
conduct this project to make this research an opportunity to demonstrate to the fellow students the
Pascal's Principle or Pascal's Law. In order to exhibit the law, the researchers will be creating a
Hydraulic Powered Robotic Arm, which shows how the mentioned concept is.

Through the use of this concept, and the different methods provided for the prototype, the
researchers can implement and expound knowledge about the mentioned concept. Students from the 12-
St. Francis of Assisi of Pilar College Zamboanga City, Inc, will be the researchers that will conduct the
experiments and needed methods to conduct this project.

This project will be created inside school grounds of the aforementioned school as we, the
researchers, aims to demonstrate time efficiency while being able to maximize the good quality of work.
For meetings of the group, it is not limited to face-to-face meetings, through the use of online meeting
applications, it is possible to be able to mark a job done. For the construction of the prototype and
experimentations, it will be done inside the school to ensure that the researchers will be properly guided
by the instructor in doing the physical work of this study, where students of the group are as well present.

In doing this prototype, considering the different methods of this project, the estimated time for
the accomplishment of the project is about 5-8 hours of work. In order to implement this project, the
estimated budget for this prototype is around 300-400 pesos.

 III. Project Background

Hydraulics is the movement of liquid where it passes through chambers such as
pipes and holes as source of force and control. Liquid is an essential component for
hydraulics because it requires a great deal of pressure for a little compression, in
hydraulics it is mainly used to transmit equal pressure in all directions.

The concept use of hydraulics is the Pascal's law or also known as Pascal's
principle or principle of transmission of fluid-pressure. The principle was first enunciated
by the French scientist Blaine Pascal. Pascal’s law is defined as “The external static
pressure applied on a confined liquid is distributed or transmitted evenly throughout the
liquid in all directions.”

In this theory, the formula to calculate the pressure is p= f/a where p is pressure,
f is force and a is the area of the hydraulic prototype.

P = FA
P= pressure
F= force

A= area

IV. Project Objectives

On the formation of this project, the researchers will be able to accomplish the following:

 Demonstrate the fundamentals of the Pascal law through hydraulics with

the prototype that will be created.
 Show the effectiveness of hydraulics, how quickly and efficiently it will
complete work.
 Spread awareness on the or educate the people on how the utilization
of hydraulics would make the work of people.

C. Project Risk Management
In any type of project, there are always risks. Risks that cause injury to an
individual, risks that cause harm to the environment and other types of risks. In
this project these are the risks that the researchers are willing to take and manage
with the formation of this project:
1. Injury from mishandling of tools
 In this particular project, we will be handling tools like cutters and
drills. Thus, causing a high risk of injury. Additionally, unwanted
accidents may occur that may lead to injury.
