Q1. Why did Mrs. Cobb think Rebecca was the ‘best
company’?
Ans. Mrs. cobb think Rebecca was the best company because
they didn’t had a dull minute that day. She’ll well-mannered
too, she did not asked for anything and was thankful for
everything she had.
Q2. What made Mrs. cobb think that Rebecca should become
a lecturer or elocutionist?
Ans. Mrs. cobb can’t see Rebecca as a doctor, somehow, her
gift gab is what’s going to be the making of her, maybe
lecture or recite poems. Mr. cobb thinks that Rebecca that
she will be able to write her own pieces. She could make
them up faster than she did read them out of book.
Q3. Who was miss Dearborn? How did she encouraged
Rebecca to try her hand at writing?
Ans. Miss Dearborn was the teacher of Rebecca’s class. She
said to Rebecca to write as she talks because she secretly
knew that Rebecca could not manage a good composition
herself. In last one on solitude, Rebecca haven’t said anything
interesting. She maid it too common and everyday it sounds
well. There were too many ‘yous’ and ‘yours’ in it. She ought
to say ‘one’ now and then to make it seem more like good
writing. Miss Dearborn said her joy and duty have been the
inspiring subject to be given to older students. She
encouraged Rebecca to try her hand at writing.

Ans. “When joy and duty clash
Let duty go to smash”
These were the two lines of poetry. It caused laughter in the
class. Miss Dearborn laughed too because she was little more
than a girl, and the training of the young idea seldom
appealed to the sense of humor. Miss Dearborn said that she
must stay after school and try again, but miss Dearborn said
it smilingly. Her poetry hasn’t a very nice idea in it for a good
little girl who ought to love duty.

Ans. In last one of Rebecca she had too many yous and yours
in it that made it boring and weird. She could use one now
and then to make it seem more like good writing.

Ans. On her final and reworked composition she used too
many one and ones. She accepted miss Dearborn’s advice.
But still many one or ones were bit weird, but some of the
part was very good.
