and

Overview:
Traditionally, there are three major forms of business organizations in the Philippines
recognized by the law: single or sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. In recent
years, a fourth form of business organization was included in the list- the cooperative. These
various forms of business organizations are confronted with ethical issues of varying kinds of
degrees.

Lesson Proper:

Single or Sole Proprietorship

is the easiest to set up that you may already be engaged in one without you knowing that it is
called a single or sole proprietorship.

partners divide the profits of the business among themselves.

Corporation
An enterprise chartered by law with most of the legal rights of a person including to
conduct a business, to own and sell property, to borrow money, to sue and be sued. A
corporation business is a business organization that has a separate legal personality from its
owners.

Cooperative
Defined as an autonomous and duly registered association of persons with a common
bond of interest, who have voluntarily joined together to achieve their social, economic, and
cultural needs and aspirations by making equitable contributions to the capital required,
patronizing their products and services and accepting a fair share of the risk and benefits of the
undertaking in accordance with universally accepted cooperative principles.
