Dear Participants,
Thank you for your voluntary consent to participate in our research entitled “A RAY OF LIGHT:
EXPLORING STUDENT’S LOW ACADEMIC SELF-ESTEEM IN THE NEW LEARNING
MODALITY”. In this study, your valuable time and honest sharing in the In-Depth Interview (IDI)
would greatly contribute to the success of this endeavor which is estimated to be finished in less
than 30 minutes and will be recorded to guarantee that nothing will be missed during the
transcription of the proceedings. Furthermore, if you find some of the questions uncomfortable to
answer, you may opt not to answer them. Rest assured that the information gathered in the IDI will
be treated with highest confidentiality and will not be used in any way that may harm your
reputation and dignity.

During the process, the researchers will explain the purpose in conducting the IDI and will make
sure that the informants are in a comfortable manner in answering the questions.
RQ1: What are the experiences of students with low academic self-esteem in the new
learning modality?
● Did you already have these experiences even before the new learning modality?
Yes when i was in junior high school I'm really bad in understanding math
problems so i need a guidance of a teacher to explain again the equation
2. What particular experience that made you develop and have low academic self-esteem?
When seeing my classmates improving quickly in a short period of time while i have a
difficultly of understanding all the information about the module

Unhappy upbringing where parent were excessively critical are just a few of the many
factors of poor self-esteem. In school, poor academic achievement leads to a lack of
confidence. An ongoing stressful life situation, such as a broken relationship or financial
difficulties can lead to develop low - steem
Maybe you only need to change a few things so that you too, can start blooming. One of
the most common reasons students find it difficult to study, is because of a lack of
concentration. Once you start studying it is important to stay focused and not let your
thoughts wander.
● Did you face that challenging situation alone or with someone’s help?
sometimes my friends save me when breaking down. But i have to be hard on my self
because nobody is permanent in your life i have to dealt it by my self without someone's
help.
RQ2: How do students with low academic self-esteem cope with the challenges in the
new learning modality?
1. Do you have any way to manage or deal with the challenges in the new learning modality?
I have to try search some ideas or article that are connected to the topic
● If so, what are these coping mechanisms?
Try searching some ideas on Internet with the reliable sources and you have to read it
again to understand what's the answer in the problem
● Did these coping mechanisms really help you to deal with those challenges?
i could say yes to me

They send some sources or articles that is connected to the module and some of them
are delivering a right answer

they help me understand what's really important of searching or underlining the
important key in the module
