SB 1.3.43 — This Bhāgavata Purāṇa is as brilliant as the sun,
and it has arisen just after the departure of Lord Kṛṣṇa to His own
abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc.

Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness
of ignorance in the Age of Kali shall get light from this Purāṇa.

‘ One who can see Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam can see also Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa in person. ‘

1st Canto with him on Jaladuta

Commonwealth Pier at Boston while on the ship, Jaladuta, to
America on September 18, 1965. Included 5 slokas from Srimad
Bhagavatam(1.2.17-21) in this bhazan.

● Every single member of the family (including those in womb) should
hear/read Srimad Bhagavatam daily
● We can either be with Krishna or maya. If don’t choose to be with Krishna
(Srimad Bhagavatam), we are naturally with maya. Pick Krishna (Srimad
Bhagavatam), kick maya.
● As different members will have different availability during the day,
separate discussions could be better. Eg, matajis at home could have
discussion during day time, working people could have in the evening etc
● Enhance reading by hearing of recorded lectures on Srimad Bhagavatam
● Rather than reading/hearing alone, involve neighbors also (Relish Srimad
Bhagavatam daily in the association and try to give formal shape to it)
● Gramya katha to be avoided. News paper, TV, non-devotional whatsapp
groups and frivolous talks to be avoided.
 Love Thy Neighbor
● In today’s world, it’s easy to have contacts and discussions with people
physically located far away from us. However, there is pressing need to
develop loving relationships with people physically located near us.
● Who is a Neighbor? Anyone with whom we come in contact physically during
the day Eg. people on the same floor or in the same building at home/work,
persons offering some service such as house work, shopkeeper, milkman etc,
people we come across during commute or in the temple…
 It is said that great personalities almost always accept voluntary suffering
because of the suffering of people in general. This is considered the highest
method of worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is present in
everyone's heart. - SB 8.7.44

● What is token prasadam? When prasadam is served in very small
quantity just as an expression of sharing Lord’s mercy
● When Srila Prabhupada started the movement, he used to cut
apple in small pieces and hand those small pieces out.
● In most of the temples and spiritual gatherings, token prasadam is
served.
● In daily Bhagavatam groups, ONLY token prasadam should be
served.

● If society has many buildings, better to have Bhagavatam groups

in each building
● Ujad jao, blessings by Shri Guru Nanak Dev… Bhagavatam and
Saintly persons should spread everywhere

In India the principles of this science were followed strictly. Even fifty years
ago, I saw that in the villages of Bengal and the suburbs of Calcutta, people
engaged in hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam daily when all their activities ended,
or at least in the evening before going to bed. Everyone would hear
the Bhāgavatam. Bhāgavata classes were held in every village, and thus
people had the advantage of hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, which describes
everything about the aim of life — liberation or salvation. SB 7.14.2 Purport

● Satyanarayan katha is actually Bhagavatam katha. Today people just
read/hear of Satyanarayan katha mahatmya. Main importance should be
given to hearing about Bhagavan (Gita mahatmya it’s just small portion of
‘Introduction to Bhagavad Gita’ written by Srila Prabhupada)
● People look forward to create auspiciousness during various occasions.
Thus reading Bhagavatam at such times of their need could be greatly
beneficial.
● Finding out places of gathering such as temples in neighborhood and
starting regular Bhagavatam katha there
