In this activity, my students are going to use Mystorybook to create a virtual storybook.
Pedagogy Planning
Activity
1. The instructor will provide the students of
their final draft stories, as in the previous
lessons, the students will have been scaffolded
through the beginning writing process,
following the steps with the knowledge that
they will be working towards creating a final
product.
2. The students will log on to the Mystorybook
website to create a new story. Instruct
students to enter the link
(www.mystorybook.com) and they will click the
blue box that says, Create A Storybook. This
will take the students to a blank template
where they will input their writing and use the
application to create the illustrations for their
compositions. The instructor and aide will need
to monitor students for engagement, guidance
through any technology issues, and general
help with inputting the information.
3. When the students are finished, they will be
instructed to save their work, which will be
modeled along through the overhead projector
so that the students can follow along on their
own devices.
4. The storybooks will be saved in a central
location, where the instructor will print them
out for each student and have them bound,
then the students will have the opportunity to
read to an audience using the Author’s Chair,
later in the week.

Mobile App Option
1. Unfortunately, due to the age range of my
desired classroom, many students probably
won’t have their own mobile device with
the ability to use apps and other functions
other than very rudimentary, mostly game-
based applications.
2. The mobile app choice that I found that
was comparable would be “Story Creator –
Easy Story Book Maker for Kids”. This is a
free app available on iPad through the
Apple App store.
