Fearnley  Procter  NS-­‐2™  Inspection  Facility  Approval  –  Level  2  

 
Following  the  success  and  global  recognition  of  the  Fearnley  Procter  NS-­‐1™  Approval  
programme  which  covers  drilling  products  and  services  -­‐  we  have  extended  it  to  now  
include  the  NS-­‐2™  Standard  for  the  Inspection  of  Used  Drilling  Equipment.  
The  demand  for  oil  and  gas  continues  to  challenge  the  limits  of  equipment  and  the  
need  for  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  equipment  is  fundamental  in  our  company’s  
commitment  to  do  all  that  we  can  do  minimise  the  amount  of  time  lost  during  the  
drilling  process  to  equipment  under-­‐  performance  and/or  failure.  
In  addition  the  cost  of  drilling  for  oil  is  growing  and  more  attention  is  now  being  
focused  on  ensuring  that  drilling  contractor  and  operators  are  getting  the  best  and  
longest  use  from  their  equipment.  Therefore  the  requirement  to  inspect  drilling  
equipment  to  NS-­‐2™  is  also  growing.  
 
The  Fearnley  Procter  Accreditation  Programme  is  designed  to  give  the  end  user  the  
support  he  needs  when  selecting  suppliers.  
Holders  of  Approval  Certificates  awarded  under  the  programme  can  demonstrate  to  
their  clients,  and  prospective  clients,  that  they  have  both  Inspectors  trained  to  the  
required  levels  and  Facilities  properly  equipped  with  management  processes  in  place  
to  perform  the  necessary  inspection  to  the  NS-­‐2™  Standard.  
 
As  importantly,  the  awarded  certificate  has  come  from  Fearnley  Procter,  an  
independent  company  with  known  expertise  in  the  area  and  a  reputation  for  integrity.  
 
The   Fearnley   Procter   NS-­‐2™   Accreditation   programme   includes   the   following   elements  
of  the  inspection  facility  process,  to  be  performed  to  the  NS-­‐2™  standard.  
 
• Organisation  and  management  structure  
• QHSE  management  systems  
• Facilities  and  resources  
• Supply  history/experience  
• Industry  approvals/licenses  
• Planning,  work  instruction  and  operations  control  
• Quality  control  
• Measuring  and  test  equipment  control  
• Witnessing  a  sample  of  actual  NS-­‐1  inspection  of  drillpipe  and  BHA  components  
• Supply  chain  management  
• Competence  assurance  program  
• Plant  maintenance  program

On  successful  completion  of  the  programme  the  Facility  will  be  awarded  a  Level  2  Certificate  of  
Approval.    
 
Once  a  use  of  logo  and  trademark  license  is  in  place,  this  certificate  can  be  used  to  promote  
and  demonstrate  the  capability  of  the  selected  premises  to  perform  NS-­‐2™  Inspections.  
 
To  support  our  successful  companies  we  include  them  in  the  list  or  Approved  Suppliers  on  our  
Fearnley  Procter  Group  website  and  announce  new  approvals  to  all  registered  users  of  both  
the  NS-­‐1™  and  NS-­‐2™  Standards.
