KELANTAN Recently, I and my group have visited Kelantan. Kelantan Darul Naim is one of the states in Malaysia. The state capital of Kelantan is Kota Bharu. There are many interesting things in Kelantan which are the history, places, foods and cultures. Kelantan is known as a state of Cik Siti Wan Kembang. Historically, Kelantan was influenced by the Funan kingdom on the Mekong river. It is also was a vassal of the Srivijaya empire and later the Siamese. In the 18th century, the provinces came under a powerful warlord known as Long Yunus whose descendants make up the present royal family. There are many interesting places in Kelantan we have visited such as Cultural Centre, Handicraft Village and Craft Museum, Cahaya Bulan Beach and Siti Khadijah Central Market. Cahaya Bulan beach is one of the most popular beaches in Kelantan. Cultural Centre is the place where varieties of cultural and living hetitage of Kelantan have been showed daily such as gasing display, wayang kulit and silat performance. While, the Craft Museum is a place where visitors and tourists can see how the crafts like songket and batik are made. We also went to Cahaya Bulan Beach which is known as Beach of Passionate Love before. It is a popular spot to have some refreshing coconut water while enjoying the sea breeze. We also went to Siti Khadijah Central Market to shop some goods for our family. There are many local products there. Kelantan is one of the states that rich with variety of food. There are nasi kerabu, ketupat sotong and laksam. Nasi kerabu is rice which is eaten with raw vegetables and special sambal ikan. Another tasty food is ketupat sotong which is made by putting glutanous rice into the cuttlefish and cooked with brown sugar as it sauce. If other states are popular with laksa, Kelantan is popular with laksam which is based on rice powder and served with white coconut milk curry. Another thing that makes people interested to visit Kelantan is the cultural activities. The Kelantan people are popular with activity of wayang kulit, silat performance, flying wau and playing gasing. They would play and do all these activities usually after the paddy have been harvested and on the month when the fishermen are not going to the sea. In conclusion, Kelantan is the interesting state and should be visited by Malaysian and tourists from other countries to learn the history, visited all the interesting places there, taste its tasty foods and enjoying the cultural performances by Kelantanese.
