PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL SYSTEM

CAMPUS: ZRC

ACTIVITY PROPOSAL FORM

AP NO.: _______________________
(EC/CC-YYYY-NNN-VVV)

TITLE OF ACTIVITY:
BB Time: Bye Basura Time

RATIONALE:
Waste production is an inevitable aspect of our day-to-day lives as human beings;
therefore, it lies within us to take responsibility on how we manage and dispose the wastes we
produce. As observed, most of the scholars in the school do not practice proper waste
management, leaving areas of the campus littered with trash. This activity aims to raise
awareness and improve scholar efforts towards proper waste management.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY:

The War on Waste will constitute three sub-activities discussed as follows:

A. Information Drive
Several information drives shall be conducted in order to spread awareness and
information regarding the War on Waste activity as a whole, as well as the subsequent
sub-events underlining it. Along with the posting of publication materials (i.e, infographic
and announcement poster) concerning the event in the official Facebook page of the
Scholar’s High Council, physical posters (samples attached) shall also be posted in campus
premises. Specifically:
1. Classrooms
The publication materials that the SHC will print shall be disseminated to
the HR President of each section. These will then be posted in their respective
classrooms, along with a verbal announcement from the officers.
2. Bulletin Board
In addition to the classrooms, the SHC also plans to post, with permission,
on available bulletin boards for the general public. One such potential location is
the Guidance Unit bulletin board that is accessible to the majority.
3. Hallways
These include the publication materials to be placed above the trash bins.
This shall be discussed more in detail in the later sections.

In line with this, we would like to formally request an approval to disseminate and post
the publication materials across the school premises, particularly in the areas mentioned
above.

B. Proper Disposal
This activity is focused on the proper disposal of plastic bottles and used face masks.
1. Plastic Bottles
Plastic bottles take up more space thus filling up trash bins and trash bags
relatively faster than single-use plastic wrappers. This results in the inefficient use
of space inside the trashbags and trashbins. One solution to this problem is to
squish or crush plastic bottles before disposal. By doing so, we can decrease the
volume occupied by each bottle thereby fitting more inside one bin.
The SHC plans to print publication materials and place them above the
school’s trashbins. Attached to this document is the publication material we wish
to distribute across the campus. With this, we would also like to request approval
to disseminate the pub mat across the school premises.

2. Used Face Masks

Used face masks can be considered hazardous waste, especially during a
pandemic. Therefore, they should be disposed of exclusively in a separate trash
bin to reduce the risk of contamination for those who will collect and handle the
waste products and faster and more efficient disposal.
The SHC would like to request permission to add another trash bin placed
beside the designated trashbins around the school to be used exclusively for used
face masks. One trash bin for the activity center, one for the second floor of Acad
1, and two for the second and third floors of Acad 2.
The SHC will be responsible for the procurement of the trashbins and
prepare them once the activity proposal has been approved and permission has
been obtained.

C. Empire Area Patrol

To further encourage scholars to observe proper waste management in school
premises, an empire-based competition shall also be conducted. In this event, a
designated school area shall be assigned to each empire; the empires shall then be
tasked to keep it clean throughout the whole competition period. The empire that can
maintain the cleanest area shall be deemed the winner.

Guidelines:
a. The Empire Area Patrol event is a school competition to be participated by the
four empires: Prudent Pegasus, Resilient Phoenix, Revenant Chimera, and Shinobi
Beast.
b. The competition period will run from November 21 to December 16, and the four
school areas to be kept clean during the competition proper include the following:

CODE AREA PREMISE ASSIGNED EMPIRE

1 Academic Building 2 and Admin Building Area Reverent Chimera

2 Activity Center Prudent Pegasus

3 ZRC Ground (including Fountain Area, Resilient Phoenix

Roads/Pathways)

4 Academic Building 1 Shinobi Beast

PSHS-00-F-DSA-01-Ver02-Rev0-02/01/20
c. To commence the event, a representative of each empire will congregate and
draw lots to determine what area their respective empires will be assigned to
clean; this procedure shall be officiated by the SHC and ensured to be conducted
in a fair manner.
d. Once assigned to an area, each empire will bear the responsibility to maintain its
cleanliness throughout the whole competition period.
e. Moreover, each empire will have a base score of 100 points at the start of the
event. Then, every day during breaks (i.e., recess, lunch, after class), SHC
representatives will check on the cleanliness of each empire area and may deduct
points from the base score of each empire depending on the presence of waste
on the premises. The point system indicated below shall serve as the official basis
for point deductions.
f. To ensure objectivity in the area checking, SHC representatives must not monitor
the area governed by the empire to which they belong.
g. The empire with the most points remaining at the end of the competition period
will be deemed the winner of the competition.
Point System:
