1. Analyze a health promotion program using the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion
Develop Personal Skills. This program is an effective approach in health promotion. This allows a
individual to exercise control over their own health and environment, and to make choices
conducive to health. This program favors personal and social development through providing
information, education for health, and enhancing like skills. Individuals uses this approach as their
means of coping with their current health conditions and enables them to be life-long learners and
prepares them for all life stages.
2. Discuss the relationship of risk to health and health promotion activities
- Health is related to the activities which we get involved with. This includes our lifestyle,
diet, and the environment in which we are exposed to every day. There are two types of risk
regarding health and health promotion activities, and these are modifiable (which one can
control) and non-modifiable (one cannot control) risk factors. Non-modifiable risk factors
includes genetic makeup, gender, age, and environmental exposures. While modifiable risk
factors are those behaviors in which one had control over. Examples are the use of tobacco
or cigarettes, liquors and other vices that contributes to the risk of acquiring a certain
disease. Meanwhile, health promotion activities are those in which one exercises to prevent
acquiring diseases or illnesses, or one engage to for personal gratification.
3. List health behaviors for health promotion and disease prevention
a. Perceived benefits of action
b. Perceived barriers to action
c. Perceived self-efficacy
d. Activity-related affect
e. Interpersonal Influences (family, peers, providers) Norms, Support, Models.
