Television plays a significant role in people’s lives. It is undeniable that Television is one of the
most important things we need especially for acquiring new knowledge, news, or even
entertainment. Cable Television is an upgrade, people can watch on different channels with
different contents such as cartoons, movies (hbo, star movies, or cinema one), news from
around the world, documentaries, shopping channels, and even cooking channels.

I remember, when I was a kid we had a cable and almost every channel I switched to was
different. We do not get bored especially because there are three cartoon channels I can watch
from, but when I am in my grandmother's house I can only watch TV5 since they do not have
cable. I also remember upgrading our cable and availing a digibox which had almost 600
channels or more, every number I changed to has different content - even in other languages. It
was really convenient for my family to have cable because we love to watch movies. Cable
channels were like youtube or netflix back in the day, except we can’t choose specifically what
we want to watch.

For me, the future of cable television in the Philippines will be unpredictable, especially because
as time passes by, competitions such as netflix, iflix, apple TV are growing significantly. I think
cable TV will team up with their competitors and let consumers have a variety of options to
choose from. This way, consumers will only pay for the channels that they actually want to
watch. I also think there will be zero commercials in the future, just like in netflix. In conclusion,
Cable television can either be gone in the future since there are a growing number of
competitors or it can be successful if they all team up.
