ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: The Children of Sitio Mabolon

Conflict Identification
There are two issues that have occurred from this reading. The first thing to note
about this location is that it requires a two-hour walk across a mountainous region to get
there. Villagers have limited access to government-sponsored welfare programs and
services. Only a small number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) were able to
assist the situation, and they only offer limited outreach initiatives. Second, there are
many children in the community who are suffering from severe malnourishment. It was
discovered that there are 22 children suffering from marasmus and kwashiorkor, two
disorders caused by nutrient insufficiency. Malnutrition is not the only problem; some kids
are also suffering from bronchial pneumonia, gastrointestinal difficulties, and diarrhea.
Plan of Action
The community of Sitio Mabolon is dealing with a number of issues that are
affecting their ability to obtain public services as well as their children's health and
immune system. To propose a resolution to this, I would suggest that the local
government provide support by meeting the requirements of the community and by
providing public transportation so that the community can get to the Sitio Mabolon.
Furthermore, meet the demands of the children, and in particular, supply them with
nutritious sources of food and additional vitamins in order to strengthen their immunity
and improve their overall health. Finally, make health-care services available to
everybody at any time in order to prevent fatalities and promote a more healthy
environment in society.
Reflection
The region around Sitio Mabolon is heartwrenching to be there. It breaks my
heart to watch children suffering from health problems as a result of a lack of help from
the local government and their parents, who are also suffering. This reading has made
me understand that poverty is one of the most serious issues facing our society and that it
can completely devastate the lives of those who are less fortunate. I should be grateful
enough that I can eat three meals a day and make local government services available
when they are needed.
