Activity 1, Lesson 2

Direction: Define the following and cite concrete examples based on your own
understanding of its meaning in relation to our topic about vocation.

1. Brother – is a certainly a distinct minority in the Roman Catholic Church. The

vocation of the brother is a part of the answer that good gives to the absence of
brotherhood which is wounding the world today. Bother in the Catholic Church a
man who is vowed to poverty, celibacy and obedience like any priest, who is a
number of religious congregation like holy Cross.

2. Grace- is one of the blessing of the lord. Grace is the free and underserved
assistance God offers us so that we might respond to his call to share in his
divine life and attain eternal life. In God’s grace as divinely offered gift, does not
take away or restrict our freedom and it can be also perfects our freedom by
helping us overcome the restricting power of sin, the true obstacle to our
freedom.

3. Sister- The Sisters can give Christ because they have Christ. They have Christ
because they love Christ and also they are consecrated to Christ and Christ is
consecrated to them.

4. Psalm- In the Catholic Church it is a bible verse , psalm give us the means to
come to prayer in a fresh state of mind. They enable us to see that we’re not the
first to feel God is silent when we pray.

5. Promise - It gives you an assurance that something will be done. Whether they
who made the promise will do if themselves on they get it done by others is
immaterial. They give you an assurance , based on which you can plan
something. A promise can either be kept or promises meant to be broken.

6. Poverty – is about living a shared life, like Jesus and the apostle who lived out of
a common purse in Verse ( Luke 8:1-3) not about being poor.

7. Chastity – is about the gift of self to another not necessarily about forsaking
marriage and sex, unless you are a dedicated single person, a religious or a
priest. So even spouses imitate Jesus chastity they give themselves to each
other.

8. Discern- Vocational discern is not a passive process. Hearing and understanding

God's call means moving from contemplation to action. Vocational discernment,
therefore, must result in action that serves others' needs and provides a means
of testing the validity of the call, as God will bless the work that is carried out.

9. Mystery- is used for these visions and for their interpretation and a reality
imbued with the hidden presence of God. Because God is totally other than we
are, totally of the spiritual order we cannot know God directly.
10. Obedience- is not about doing what someone in authority tells you, but involves
rather a shift from me to thee, with a readiness to serve, no matter who, whether
the other is deserving, asks nicely, is aware of the cost, or is grateful.
