OBJECTIVE : To ensure that the student can demonstrate their knowledge of Student’s initials & sign
hydraulic system as well as their parts for removal , servicing, cleaning ,
recharging and installation procedures with applicable manual and in proper

SAFETY PRE-CAUTION :
Read and follow tools and Workshop Safety Precaution as appropriate
EQUIPMENT AND TOOL NEEDED :
Hydraulic Trainer Model AS-10 & standard tools
SUPPLIES AND MATERIAL NEEDED :
Hydraulic fluid MIL-H5606, push lap.

Learning II: Flushing hydraulic system


1. Drain the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir
2. Disconnect the lines from all system components and drain all fluid
from lines and components.
3. Remove filter element, flush out the filter bowl and install new
fiilter element (clean element if cleanable).
4. Reinstall all removedd items.
5. Flush the hydraulic system with clean fluid (MIL-H5606). Examine
seal and cylinder bores for damage

Learning III: Cleaning the filter

1. Remove the filter bowl


2. Pull filter element ouut and clean with mineral spirit and dry with
compressed air.
3. Inspect the packing for condition and replaced if needed.
4. Install the filter in tthee housing.
5. Fill the filter bowl with clean hydraulic fluid and reinstalled.
6. Torque the filter bowl to 100 inch-pounds.m

Learning IV: Recharging the Accumulator

1. Remove protective cap from charging valve.


2. Attach the service hose to the fitting.
3. Open the accumulator service valve by rotatingthe lock nut counter
clock wise.
4. slowly charge the accumulator to approximately 70% of operating
hydrauliic system pressure. (charge with nitrogen or dryy
compressed air only)
5. close service valve on the accumulator and remove the charging
hose.
6. Reinstall protective cap.
