often sports that are popular with young people. For example, the new sports that
were included recently (such as skateboarding, surfing and break dancing) are very
popular in youth culture. By comparison, more traditional sports that are only

Forest fires occur partly as a result of dry leaves and branches on the forest floor
due to hot weather. The hot weather also leads to an increase in the number of
barbecues, which results in a number of accidental fires. The fires cause an
increase in a gas called CO2 in two ways. First, when trees burn, they produce
carbon dioxide. Second, because trees take CO2 from the air, more CO2 will stay
in the air after the forest has burned. The CO2 then traps the heat in the air.
Consequently, forest fires result in a further rise in temperature. This increases the
chances of more fires in the future.
