SAP Fiori Launchpad

User Experience is not simply about colors and fonts. A great User Experience can lead
to an increase in productivity as people can work faster and more efficiently. It also helps to
increase application adoption, decrease errors, and save training costs. All benefits with an
immediately impact on the overall business value.

SAP Fiori offers a collection of apps, created based on the rules of the SAP User
Experience. Each SAP Fiori app is designed to cover an individual step for a specific role.
Therefore, several apps combined represent a complete process, covering different enterprise
solutions and systems. This is a shift from monolithic solutions to activity-based apps, providing
a role-based simplification of business processes. A role-based User Experience means that
end users get all information and functions they need for their daily work – but are not burdened
by those they don't need. The SAP Fiori launchpad is at the center of this strategy, offering a
single entry point for users to interact with different enterprise solutions. SAP Fiori is accessed
via any modern browser, meaning you can access it via, for example, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or
Safari browser. It is also device agnostic. You have the same user experience on your laptop,
your phone, or your tablet, allowing you to work the way that you want to, where you want to.

Organizational Units and Structures

Enterprise Structure

One of the first steps in implementing SAP applications is to define the specific
organizational structures of your company in the SAP system. The enterprise structure forms
the framework that is used to set up the master data and business processes. In general, the
enterprise structure is used to map the real company according to legal, organizational, and
process aspects in SAP S/4HANA.

 Client: represents a corporate group or subgroup in SAP. It is the highest level in the

SAP enterprise structure. General master data applicable to the entire company is
maintained at this level.
 Operating Concern: represents an organizational unit for which the sales market has a
uniform structure. It is the valuation level for profitability analysis.
 Controlling Area: is the basic organizational unit in Management Accounting. A
controlling area is a self-contained entity used for cost and revenue accounting.
 Company Code: is the central organizational unit of the external accounting of which the
general ledger and its subledgers is managed.
 Plant: is the central organizational unit in Logistics. It subdivides an enterprise according
to production, procurement, maintenance, and materials planning aspects.
 Sales Organization: subdivides an enterprise according to the requirements of Sales. It
is responsible for selling materials and services. A sales organization is always uniquely
assigned to a company code.
