Overexploitation of a habitat is a threat to biodiversity as many different animals and species lose

Invasive species are species that are not usually found in a certain habitat but 'invade'' the habitat.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Invasive Most times they often tip the balance in the food chain as well as become overpopulated in the
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Species environment making it harder for the other organisms in the environment to survive

Pollution also is a threat to biodiversity because pollution can affect and sometimes kill the species in the

Pollution habitat.

…… Climate Change is a big threat to biodiversity because it brings strange and unpredictable weather

patterns which will be difficult for the organisms to adapt to

In your opinion, which is the biggest named threat to ecosystems & why?

Overexploitation is the biggest threat to ecosystems because it is the process of directly destroying the habitat of
organisms for personal use and it could be reduced but it is not the mass destruction of their habitats leave most
organisms of that ecosystem left to die or try and fend in a new habitat.

Three named hotspots under threat:

The Caucus mountains in Asia have very diverse ecosystems in their forests but their biodiversity is being
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The lost due to the illegal timber trade and felling of trees damaging the habitat of the species in the hotspot.

It is located in southwest Australia and is a hotspot due to the many plant species in its woodlands but
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
they are being threatened and destroyed due to large and frequent forest fires.

The Atlantic forest in Brazil is a rainforest so naturally, it has very high biodiversity and an abundance of
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
many different species, unfortunately, it is losing its biodiversity as there is more urbanization going on
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
near those areas so more of the forest is slowly being destroyed to make space for homes and commercial
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
buildings.
