(e) kinematic pair (f) kinematic chain.

Q.2 Differentiate between machine and mechanism.

Q.3 Differentiate between lower pair and higher pair or

Q.4 What is kinematic pair? Classify various types of kinematic pairs?

Explain Them with neat sketches

Q.5 Draw two Inversion of single slider Crank chain & Explain it

Q.6 Sketch and Explain crank and slotted lever quick return

mechanism

Q.7 Explain Whitworth type quick return motion mechanism with neat

sketch.

Q.8 Sketch and explain any two Inversion of double slider crank chain

Q-9 In a four bar mechanism ABCD, AB=7cm ,BC=12cm, CD=10cm

and AD=18cm /_ BAD=60˚.Link AD is Fixed, and point B and C lies on

same side of AD .link AB rotates at 60 RPM clock wise. Find (a) velocity of link

CD.(b) angular velocity of link BC,(c) velocity of midpoint E of link BC

Q-10 A single slider mechanism has crank and connecting rod 100mm and 400

mm respectively.A point E on connecting rod is at a distance of 180 mm from

crosshead end.If RPM of engine is 400 c l o c k w i s e and crank makes 450

angle from IDC determine using both method: (1) Velocity of slider. (2)

Acceleration of slider. (3) Velocity of point E. (4) Acceleration of point E.

Q-11 The crank and connecting rod of reciprocating engine are 150 mm and 600 mm

respectively. The crank makes an angle of 60̊ with outer dead centre and
revolve at a uniform speed of 300 rpm clockwise. Find by kleins construction (i)

Velocity and acceleration of the piston (ii) velocity and acceleration of the mid

point of the connecting rod and (iii) Angular velocity and angular acceleration

of the rod.

Q-12 A four bar mechanism ABCD is having AD=120mm as a fixed link, AB=50mm

as a driving link and CD=75mm as a driven link, the link BC=75mm and

∟BAD= 600 , the link revolves at 120 rpm in clockwise direction. Find angular

velocity of link BC

Q-13 Explain with neat sketch Klein’s construction for velocity and acceleration of

the parts of Reciprocating engine

sketch Roller & Flat face follower

Q-15 State the type of motions for followers. Explain any one with help of

displacement diagram.

Q-16 Draw cam profile to move the knife edge follower to give 60 mm lift with

SHM. During 120 of cam rotation & it dwells for 40 of cam rotation then I

returns with uniform velocity during 120 rotation & then follower remains in

rest during remaining period. The axis of follower passes through the axis of

cam shaft. Base circle diameter of the cam is 50mm

Q-17 Draw the profile of a cam to raise a valve with S.H.M. through 40mm in 1/4th

of revolution, keep it fully raised through 1/10th and to lower it with uniform

acceleration and retardation in 1/6th revolution. The valve remains closed

during the rest of the revolution. The diameter of roller is 20mm and minimum

radius of cam is to be 30mm. The axis of the valve rod passes through the

axis of cam shaft. The cam shaft rotates at 360 rpm clockwise
