NARRATIVE

BACKGROUND: (REASON WHY YOU CHOSE THE BOOK)

I chose this story because it represents the greatness of friendship and also reminds us that you
can be a family even if you are not blood-related. I chose this also because the genre is fantasy
and magical which I really like. What I also love about this story is how it shows the power and
importance of friendship.
TEASER:
Black Clover is a manga series from Japan. It is a story of a young boy named Asta who was born
in a world full of magic without any particles of mana which is why he can’t use magic since
birth. Asta’s dream is to become the wizard king and having no mana or magic doesn’t stop him
from pursuing his dream. Everyone in their world when turn 15 will get their own grimoire, this
is a book that allows its user to cast specific spells that are far in advance of their own natural
magical abilities, and Asta didn’t get one. An incident happens after the giving of a grimoire,
there’s a thief who tried to steal Yuno’s grimoire. Yuno is a sworn brother of Asta, they both
grow up in a chapel at Hage Village. Yuno has the power of wind and has been always a good-
looking person with a great personality. Asta saw the thief trying to steal the grimoire of his
sworn brother that’s why he rushed there to help Yuno. But since Asta doesn’t have magic so
he easily gets knocked out. In his unconsciousness, a black and old-looking grimoire came to
him, this, later on, was introduced as a grimoire possessed by a demon. This grimoire released
an old sword and when Asta grabs onto this he managed to wake up and fight the thief. He was
really happy about having a grimoire so he also decided to participate in the Magic Knights
Entrance Exam along with Yuno and lots of magicians in his age. Yuno got selected by the
strongest Magic Knights Squad, the Golden Dawn Squad. While Asta got to join the Black Bulls
Squad, a squad with zero stars and known to be the most troublesome group of Magic Knights
in the entire Clover Kingdom and a squad filled with different knights with different back story

and personalities. But with Asta’s strong desire to be the Wizard king, he manages to help the
squad get more stars and have a good reputation. He became friends with everyone from the
squad. They fought together as a squad and exceeded many problems that their squad faced.
REFLECTION:
This story is somewhat similar to my life now. I’m a transfer student so I thought I won’t be
having friends here in my new school but I was wrong. I manage to have friends whom I can
rely on. A group of friends with different attitudes but when together we are all happy. A group
of friends who don’t want any of us to get left behind, a group of friends who works and have
fun together. I wish I could cherish this moment forever. It’s not that long since I transfer but
they all made me feel like I’ve always been a close friend to them.
