Welcome to Business English Networking Course 2: Using E-mail for

Networking, the second of four courses in UWashingtonX's English for Business


Networking  professional certificate series. 

In this course, you will learn about writing effective e-mails in English. You will learn
how to create good subject lines, greetings, and closings. You will also learn about
appropriate tone for different purposes.

It is helpful, but not required, to take Business English Networking, Course 1:


Preparing to Network.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Networking is important for job hunters, people changing or entering careers,


entrepreneurs, and people in all areas of business. This four-course, 16-week program
provides learners with English grammar and vocabulary appropriate to identifying and
expanding their networks to positively affect their careers.

Learn the basics of networking while you grow your social network and professional
connections. Practice speaking to improve your English language skills for increased
success in job hunting.

Course Objectives
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

 write effective and professional emails;


 write appropriate greetings, openings and closings to e-mail, including the
subject line;
 choose appropriate tone; and
 start, organize, and end emails.

Who Is This Course For?

 Target Audience: This course is designed for people who speak English as a
second (or third language) who want to improve their ability to be successful at
business networking.
 Prerequisites: Intermediate level of English 
 Level: Introductory
How Should I Plan My Time?

 Time Commitment: We estimate each lesson in this four-lesson course will


take two to five hours. You must complete all required assignments in the
course by the course deadline.
 Pace: This course is self-paced. This means that you may proceed through the
course as quickly or slowly as you prefer.
 Deadline: The only deadline is the end of the course. All assignments must be
completed before the course deadline.
Grading
The course is graded as Pass/Fail. You must complete the assignments with an overall
score of 70% or higher to pass. Verified learners who receive a passing grade are
issued a certificate of completion.
