Admission Policy for Bachelor of Architecture (B.

Arch)

Program Duration:
 The programs leading to B.Arch shall be of five years, equally
divided into ten semesters.

 Each semester shall consist of four and a half months, four


months for teaching and two weeks for the preparation and
conduct of examination.

Eligibility:
 Pre-engineering/A-levels from any recognized board or
equivalent with at least 50% marks.
 Diploma in the same field securing at least 60% marks.

After passing the NAT/BUITEMS test candidates will have to appear in an aptitude test
followed by an interview. The aptitude test will consist of written and visual components that
are designed to critically assess candidate’s potential in the field of art and architecture.
Areas that will be assessed in the aptitude test are as below:
 General knowledge
 Logical reasoning
 Imaginative composition
 Vocabulary and comprehension
 Drawing skills/sketching
Each section stated above consists of different marks and weightage.
Candidates that qualify the test will be eligible for the interview, the evaluation of the
interview is based on the following areas each carrying equal weightage:
 Communication skills and overall confidence
 Commitment and passion for the programme (architecture)
 Analytical and critical ability
 Potential as an architect and member of the wider society.

Determination of Admission Merit:

Admission merit of the applicants would be determined as:

 BUITEMS Entrance Test 20%


 Intermediate/ A-Level/ Equivalent 20%
 Matriculation/ O-Level 20%
 Aptitude Test, free-hand drawing & Interview 40%
 Limited seats are reserved for foreign students. Merit of foreign
students will be determined by their SAT Score.
 For Diploma holders No of seat/s reserved is limited to four.

* The maximum limit for annual intake has been fixed to 45 (Forty Five) students by
the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP), under the
notification no. PCAPT/ARCH/TP/14-9-9/21, dated: 14 September 2021.
SAMPLE APTITUDE TEST QUESTIONS

Part 1: General knowledge


 To assess awareness and understanding of a wide spectrum of information and facts
ranging from current events, history, important dates, cultural, political and social
issues. Purpose of this section is to encourage a culture of information.

Part 2: Logical reasoning


 To evaluate the mode of reasoning.

Part 3: Imaginative composition


 To assess the ability to produce a creative, original and innovative piece of work
using the given descriptions.

Part 4: Vocabulary and comprehension


 To test a student’s knowledge and understanding of the meaning of words in the
English language.
Part 5: Drawing skills/sketching
 Observe and draw a free hand given set up/composition/still life using pencil in order
to assess observation skills.
