Practical: Flame making Gas Welding

Specific Objectives: At the end of this practical a student will be able to

 Understand necessity of different flame.


 Introduction to Oxy acetylene flame.
 Understand of cylinder.

Introduction, Preparation, Motivation:

 Importance of Gas welding


 Introduction to Acetylene cylinder, Oxygen Cylinder, Blow Pipe, Pressure Regulator.
 Gas Welding equipments

Tools & Equipment/ Machines

Acetylene Cylinder, Oxygen Cylinder, Blow Pipe, Pressure regulator, hose pipe, welding torch, spark lighter,
Goggles, Safety shoes, leather apron, face shield, chipping hammer.

Material : 1-Mild steel 100X50X6 mm =2

Safety Precautions:

1- Cylinder should be placed in vertical standing position.


2- Be careful, that there should be no leakage in cylinders.
3- Use safety Goggles while welding.

Procedure/Method

1-Marking • Mark the piece according to
specifications.
2-Cutting • Cut the piece on hydraulic
shear cutter.
3-Edge preparation • Prepare edges of work pieces
on grinder.
4-Pre-cleaning • Remove any dust, oil or rust
from surface of work pieces.
5-Alligne/Tacking
• Place the piece on welding
table by tacking.
6-Welding
• Locate and ensure you are
