ACTIVITY 4: MYSELF, MY FAMILY, MY COMMUNITY (NO WRONG ANSWERS. ANSWER HONESTLY)

1. AS A STUDENT, HOW CAN YOU CONQUER THE CHALLENGES POSED BY THIS PANDEMIC?
2. HOW DID THE PRESENT CRISIS MAKE YOU REALIZE THE REALITY OF HUMAN LIMITATIONS,
UNCERTAINTIES AND POSSIBILITIES?

Since the recent problem is challenging both scientific and political authorities causing uncertainties to prevail
as to the actions and policies that are employed to at least mitigate the problem. People grown super stressed
out, always on edge, or even hyper vigilant especially in the early months of the outbreak. We become
conscious of our surroundings, keeping our guard up and continuously assessing for safety and/or danger that
can lead to all sorts of mental health issues, from increased symptoms of stress, anxiety, panic attacks,
depression, thoughts of suicide and many more. However, despite the unprecedented events we are into,
benevolent and selfless acts are observed all over the world, as mutual aid groups’ form to render assistance
where and when needed. Different approaches from various disciplines (e.g. Anthropology, Political Science,
and Sociology) were brought into play in combating the disease and individual’s compliance to reduce its
severity is prioritized. Furthermore, even though there are wide ranging effects on complex social domains
such as working patterns, consumption and to other normal activities we do, we are able to find an alternative
way to execute our responsibilities and roles through online spaces.

1. ACTIVITY: Volunteer to staff office, answer calls, put together mass mailings, or make phone calls.

2. SCENARIO (3-5 SENTENCES)

One time I was asked to volunteer as an administrative assistant in the office near our area. It just so
happened that due to some circumstances they were short on people and it was really hectic during that
time. It wasn’t any high profile financial institution and it’s just an ordinary but friendly office
environment. As soon as I showed up I was immediately put in the front of a desktop and one of the
member taught me the gist of the job I was assigned to. Overall, my duties range from tasks such as
answering phones, encoding, and basic programming jobs and sometimes I assist in photocopying
and filing of papers.

have the ability to anticipate needs and complete important tasks without needing to be asked.

PRESENT VIRTUES

Identify what community virtues in your barangay have. Discuss each virtue in 3-5 sentences by giving factual
scenarios.

 Progressive
 Adaptive
Although at first we have a weak adaptive capacity that is we do not have financial or technological
options, resources/ market, institutions, and networks but are only blessed with natural resources. Yet,
adaptive managers and leaders in our community have sustained and internalize this adaptation in the
face of modernization. Remarkable developments and significant changes were observed in the recent
years. For instance, the establishment of a paved public space for citizens to gather for civic, religious, or
commercial reasons (i.e. plaza, church, and barangay hall), the construction of a daycare and elementary
school, health center, resort, computer shop, sewing shop, bakery, water tank and other technological
related advancements where people often gather and keep updated through online spaces or social
media platforms. Through these notable improvements and existence of enabling policies we’re able to
manage social-ecological systems and prioritize the people’s well- being,

MISSING VIRTUES

Identify what community virtues your barangay do not have. Discuss your solution for each virtue in 3-5
sentences

 Vigilant
 Accountable

Despite the seemingly braggy way of how I described the celebrated upgrades that took place in our
community, the existence of dissatisfaction still persist. It lacks the capacity for governance because of
lack of leadership, of vision, and of motivation, and their responses are typically short term. They do not
invest in the long-term management of ecosystem services. But when aware of the threats, everyone
pursue to take appropriate action for long-term sustainability. Although, high levels of motivation and
participation in all role players are not entirely fulfill and the existence of policies concerning security
frequently becomes negligible.

CREATE THE WORK WHICH ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE PROCESS USED TO CREATE AN ARTWORK ARE MORE
IMPORTANT THAN THE FINISHED WORK ITSELF. ALSO, IT IS USUALLY PRESENTED IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE.
OTHER THAN THAT THERE’S SPACE WHICH IS A SITE SPECIFC ART FORMS THAT ARE PERFORMED AND
POSTIONED IN A SPECIFIC SPACE. WHILE, HYBRIDITY ART IS DONE BY BLENDING OF NEW UNSUAL AND

FEMINIST

This form of criticism places literature in a social context and employs a broad range of disciplines, such as history, psychology, sociology, and
linguistics, to create a perspective that considers feminist issues. Feminist theories also attempt to understand representation from a woman’s
point of view and analyze women’s writing strategies in the context of their social conditions.

HISTORICAL CRITISM

It involves looking beyond the literature at the broader historical and cultural events occurring during the -.

-- The historical approach to literature simply means that the critic--the person trying to understand any work of literature--looks beyond the literature itself to the
broader historical and cultural events that might influence the author whose work is being considered. The critic will begin to research what was going on in the
world at the time the literary work was being written in order to see if the author either consciously or unconsciously incorporated outside forces into the literary
work. Historical criticism, literary criticism in the light of historical evidence or based on the context in which a work was written, including facts about the author’s
life and the historical and social circumstances of the time.

STRUCTURALISM

structuralist criticism It relates literary texts to a larger structure, which may be a particular genre, a range of intertextual connections, a
model of a universal narrative structure, or a system of recurrent patterns or motifs.

READER-RESPONSE CRITICISM

Reader-response critics are not interested in a “correct” interpretation of a text or what the author intended. They are interested in the reader’s
individual experience with a text. Thus, there is no single definitive reading of a text, because the reader is
creating, as opposed to discovering, absolute meanings in texts.
