Steve Jobs, whose full name is Steven Paul Jobs, was a charismatic forerunner of the

personal computer era and cofounder of Apple Computer, Inc. (now Apple Inc.). Born in San
Francisco, California on February 24, 1955. His unmarried biological parents gave him up for
adoption. Paul and Clara Jobs, a lower-middle-class couple who later relocated to the
suburb of Mountain View, adopted Steve. Jobs was diagnosed with a pancreatic
neuroendocrine tumor in 2003. In Palo Alto, California, on October 5, 2011, at 56 years of
age, he passed away from a tumor-related respiratory arrest.

He cofounded Apple Computer with Stephen Wozniak in 1976. (incorporated in 1977; now
Apple Inc.). The first Apple computer, developed while Jobs was just 21 years old,
transformed the public's perception of a PC from a considerably large device for scientific
use to a household appliance that anybody could use. Jobs was appointed chairman of
Apple in 1980, which is the same year as the year the firm went public. He left Apple in 1985
to start NeXT Computer Inc. due to management issues, although he later came back and
was named CEO of the company.

Steve Jobs is a successful American entrepreneur and before turning thirty he was already a
multi-millionaire. He devoted his life to developing technologies, that transformed how our
society runs, and he used his enthusiasm for technology to improve the world.
