CHAPTER THREE

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

3.1 INTRODUCTION

This section deals with the methodology employed in carrying out the

research. It covers the determinant of the target population, the sampling

method and various instruments to be engaged in finding or getting

information, the system of administering the questionnaire as well as the data

analysis; it is also organized to clarify the overall research approach.

3.2 RESEARCH DESIGN

Frequency distributions will be used to analyze the data collected and examined the

pattern of response to each variable under investigation. The study is a qualitative

research because, it adopted questionnaires and the data collected will be analyzed using

statistical methods.

This design offers to the researchers a profile of described relevant aspects of the

phenomena of interest from an individual, organizational and industry- oriented

perspective. It presents data in a meaningful form that helps the researchers to understand

the characteristic of a group in a given situation, to think systematically about aspects in a

given situation, offer ideas for further research and helps to make certain simple

decisions. Miller's (2011) posits that descriptive research is the process of collecting data

in order to answer questions concerning the current status of the subject study therefore;

the design enabled the researcher to gather data from a wide range of respondent on

information technology system on organizational performance. Questionnaires will be

used to sample the opinions of members Oriade LGA, Ijebu Ijesa which is

believed to embrace a result that is in accordance with the reality.

3.3 AREA OF THE STUDY

The area of the study covers active employees of Oriade LGA, Ijebu Ijesa in

Osun State.

3.4 POPULATION

Population in research comprehensively means the total elements or persons covered by

the problem under investigation. It is a collection of all elements with one or more

attributes in common.

This study is designed to cover the population of the aforementioned

organization, that is, all the workers at the Oriade LGA, Ijebu Ijesa which is

about seventy-five (75) workers.

3.5 SAMPLE TECHNIQUES

The staff will be knowledgeable enough and therefore a reliable sources of

information about the organizational effectiveness. Non-probability

sampling techniques will be used in choosing the samples. However, the

elements were chosen because they could offer the ideas and insights to the

research.

3.6 SAMPLE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUES

The sample for the interview study was drawn from Oriade Local Government Area,

Ijebu Ijesa in Osun State. The Simple Random Sampling (SRS) method will be used in

the selection of the sample, the study aimed at giving every employees of the

organization in the target population an equal chance of being selected. The researcher
chose the sample due to the constraints of resources and time frame available to conduct

the study.

3.7 DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENT

The information will be from primary alone. Primary data is the

information that was gathered through structured questionnaire and

interviews while. In collecting data, different instruments were used which are

questionnaire designs and questionnaire techniques.

3.8 QUESTIONNAIRE ADMINISTRATION

The questionnaire is one of the very important instruments used in collecting

data. Questions with bearing to the topic were designed and sent to the

organization. They will be designed in such a way the respondents can

understand and give relevant information. Closed-ended questions were used.

These were designed in such a way as to restrict the respondent to answering

either Yes or No to the question asked.

3.9 METHODS OF COLLECTION AND DATA ANALYSIS

Data was collected, analyzed and presented using both qualitative and quantitative

methods. The methods were found to be useful because most of the information collected

was based on attitudes, opinions as well as quality services, knowledge and skills

(competencies). Data was coded and entered into the computer by the principal

Investigator. Later data were analyzed according to responses using Statistical Program

Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) techniques and were presented using tables as well

as percentages. The SPSS has the versatile capabilities and flexibilities of analyzing huge
data within seconds and generating an unlimited range of simple statistical results

including simple frequency distribution tables, percentages, cumulative frequencies.
