SHUT IN PROCEDURE WHILE RUNNING LINER

Ensure that in a liner appropriate size of RAM is installed on the BOP before commencing casing running

Note: In most cases 7” and 4-1/2” liner is RIH a 4-1/2”-7” Variable RAM is sufficient. However, in case of high risk wells a
casing RAM for the appropriate size of liner may also need to be installed

1. Shutting in on Liner
If a kick is detected while Running in the liner. Then the Gas has flooded the well. And is most probably below the liner.
The Shut-in Procedure remains as that of while running in casing But a volumetric well control procedure will have to be
followed to bring influx to surface and then conventional drillers method can be applied.

2. Shutting in on Drill pipe


If a kick is detected while Running in the liner on Drill pipe. Follow the same procedure as shutting in while tripping
