    Mariano Ponce was a Filipino physician and writer born in 1863 who played a key role in the Philippine propaganda movement alongside Jose Rizal and Marcelo H. del Pilar. He studied medicine in Manila and Madrid, where he helped found the newspaper La Solidaridad and the Asociación Hispano-Filipino. As secretary of La Solidaridad, Ponce headed its literary section and contributed writings about his travels. Though less renowned than Rizal, Ponce was praised as the calm and prudent leader who managed the complex aspects of the propaganda campaign. He died in 1918 in Hong Kong.

    I really adore Dr. Mariano Ponce who also contributed to the history of our country, the
    philippines. Dr, Mariano Ponce was born on March 22, 1863 and died in the Government Civil
    Hospital in Hong Kong, on May 23, 1918. Mariano Ponce was the oldest among the seven
    children of Mariano Ponce and Maria Collantes de los Santos. Same as Dr. Jose Rizal He also
    has different nicknames such as Kalipulako, Naning and Tikbalang and wrote about travels.He
    took up Bachelor of Arts at Letran College at that point pursued a course in Medication at the
    College of Santo Tomas until 1887. Ponce went to Spain to wrap up his thoughts about where
    he got his medical degree in 1889 from the Universidad Central de Madrid. He joined Stone
    work and served as secretary of Logia Revolución No 65 until it was broken down in favor of
    Logia Solidaridad No 53 where he moreover got to be secretary when Marcelo del Pilar was its
    Admired Ace in 1891. With Graciano Lopez-Jaena, Mariano Ponce co-founded the periodical La
    Solidaridad in February 1889 served as its chairman and headed its literary section. He may not
    be known for his biography but He is a secretary of the propaganda movement. Also, In Spain.
    he was among the founders of La Solidaridad and Asociación Hispano-Filipino. Teodoro M.
    Kalaw, as executive of the National Library, in his preface to the book “Cartas Sobre La
    Revolución” (Letters on the Insurgency, 1932) by Mariano Ponce portrayed them as the three
    central minds in which the heading of the purposeful publicity development rested. While Rizal
    was the soul of patriotism and Del Pilar the political examiner, Kalaw depicted Ponce as the
    calm, saved and understanding chairman who took care of all the difficult subtle elements of the
    campaign.
