Types of Housekeeping
1. Domestic Housekeeping- refers to housekeeping maintenance in a house. it covers bedrooms,
kitchen, dining, receiving area, grounds and the surrounding areas within the house. The lady of the
house, usually the wife/mother or the caretaker acts as the head housekeeper. She is responsible for
keeping the household in proper order. She sees to it that the room are cleaned and well maintained,
floors and furniture are properly washed, pressed and safely stored. she also manages food operation
and dining service.

2.Institutional Housekeeping- applies to housekeeping maintenance in commercial lodging


establishment like hotels, resorts, inns and apartels.

Institutional Housekeeping usually covers the following areas:


* Guest rooms
* Hallways and corridors
* Lobby
* Public areas and restaurant
* Offices
* Stairways
* Grounds and Plants
* Linen and Laundry Area
* Pest Control

Bathroom Cleaning:
Good morning mam/sir assessor, now I will demonstrate to you; bathroom cleaning
• First, you must wear personal protective equipment(PPE), like rubber gloves, hairnet, face mask,
apron.
The Materials and Chemicals needed:
1. Caddy basket- Container for chemicals like toilet bowl cleaner.
2. All-purpose cleaner- can be used in any part of the bathroom except the toilet bowl.
3. Air freshener- to make the bathroom smells fresh after cleaning.
4. Glass cleaner- use to clean mirrors and any glass surface.
5. Stain remover- (zonrox) chemicals used to remove stains.
6. Oilers- a liquid to be used on any metal surface.
7. Metal polish- removes rust on any metal surface.
8. Powder Detergent
9. Duster- for dusting purposes
10. Squeegee- use for cleaning glass surfaces.
11. Ceiling broom- use to remove cobweb
12. Damp Cloth or cleaning cloth- Use to wipe watery surfaces and walls.
13. Hand brush- use to brush any surfaces except the bowl.
14. Toilet bowl brush- use to brush the inner part of the bowl.
15. Scouring pad
Bathroom Cleaning Procedure:
1. Open the door, Switch the lights on and check the condition of the bathroom.
2. Remove the waste basket/trash can.
3. Remove the bathroom supplies and amenities (towels, soap, shampoo, etc.)
4. Start cleaning from the shower down to the bathtub using a clean damp cloth with an all-purpose
cleaner.
5. Clean the toilet bowl, flush the toilet bowl before you put in some cleaning chemicals.
6. Pour or apply a small amount of toilet bowl cleaner.
7. Leave 3 to 5 minutes for the chemical to soak, cover the toilet bowl.
8. While waiting for 3 to 5 minutes, proceed to the lavatory. In cleaning the lavatory, you must wet it
then pour a small amount of all-purpose cleaner, then scrub the lavatory using the scouring pad. After
scouring it, rinse it with water.
9. After cleaning the lavatory, go back to the toilet bowl. Continue cleaning the toilet bowl with the use
of a toilet bowl brush in the inside part. In the outside part use a scouring pad. Then rinse the bowl with
water.
10. To clean the wall, wet the wall surface then apply an all-purpose cleaner, use the scouring and scrub
the wall, after scrubbing rinse the wall with water.
11. Check the ceiling if there are cobwebs, use a ceiling broom in taking out cobwebs.
12. Clean the door, first is to clean the door jamb using the duster. Clean the door from top to bottom.
13. Clean the door panel using a clean cloth from top to bottom (front to back).
14. Clean the doorknob using a clean cloth with metal polish and wipe the surface (front to back).
15. Clean the toilet floor using an all-purpose cleaner and hand brush. After brushing, rinse the floor
with water.
16. Replace or replenish all the amenities with a new one. (bathroom towel, shampoo, etc.) all towels
must be folded properly.
17. Be sure the floor and walls were totally dry to avoid accidents on the part of the guest.
Apply Air freshener to make the toilet smells fresh.
18. Take a final look at the toilet before half-closing it. (to avoid guest suffocation).
