ENGL 4021 M03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: August 6, 2022

Call to Order:

A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 M03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held in
room MTC-3 on August 6, 2022. The meeting convened at 9:07 am, Professor LeCompte presiding and
Lara V. Ballester Torres, secretary. All students attended except: Thalia González, Derick Rivera, and
Nashali Santiago.

Approval of Minutes:

Minutes of the September 1, 2022, meeting were distributed to members of the course and approved after
corrections.

Matters Discussed:

1. Professor Le Compte started with giving the students a printout containing two editorial
cartoons with topics related to the documentary The Future of Food so they would free write and
reflect about them.

2. The professor explained the difference between comics and editorial cartoons.

3. Professor Le Compte gave a quiz about chapter 1 of the Pocket Guide to Technical
Communication.

4. Professor Le Compte explained some errors on quiz answers, these were:

a. False Cognates
b. Absolute Statements
c. Overuse of pronouns

5. The professor then proceeded to discuss chapter 1 of the Pocket Guide to Technical
Communication and gave a summary of the most important topics the students should focus for
the test.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:27 am.
