SPEAKER'S PROFILE
EDWARD Z. LUCAS
ALBERT R. JONSON
He graduated from Mapúa Institute of Technology with a degree of
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1978. He is a registered
Civil Engineer with forty-three (43) years of extensive experience in
planning, development, implementation and management of water
resources and water supply projects in various water districts,
private companies and local government units throughout the
country. He served as a Team Leader/Deputy Team Leader on a
number of projects including groundwater modeling,
hydrogeological investigations, water resources exploration, and
geo-electric resistivity surveys.
ROBERTO V. SUAREZ
He has over 30 years of experience in water resources and water
supply engineering. He obtained his post graduate study at ITC-
Enschede The Netherlands with Professional Master Degree in Water
Resources Survey after graduating from the Mapua Institute of
Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering/Environmental and
Sanitary Engineering. He is currently the VWSSI's Deputy Chief
Operating Officer for Technical Operations. He was a Water Supply
and Water Resources Engineer in LWUA for 27 years, as well as a
Team Leader for various Groundwater Exploration Projects.
CARLOS B. PEREZ
He is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering at the
University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Attended the
Geological Survey of Japan's Groundwater Development Course in
Tsukuba-gun, Ibraki-ken, Japan, Groundwater Modeling at the
International Groundwater Modeling Center, Colorado School of
Mines in Golden, Colorado, USA, and the Regional Water Safety Plan
Workshop in Singapore. He spent 16 years with LWUA as a Project
Engineer and Team Leader, preparing water supply feasibility
studies, groundwater resources investigations, and well drilling
projects.
MICHAEL PHILIP L. CATAMCO
He graduated Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in
2007 at the Technological Institute of the Philippines. He has

worked with different industrial and environmental corporations
since 2011. At present he is the senior engineer at CG Integra
Corp. He is an expert in the processing of design, rehabilitation
and commissioning of wastewater treatment plants for various
projects.
He graduated Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Sto Tomas in Manila in 1999. He is a registered electrical
engineer and registered master electrician. His more than two
decades of experience in well drilling and water supply demonstrate
his vast talents and skills in performing deep well operations,
rehabilitation and construction. Starting as a Project Engineer in
2000 with the family-owned Lucas Well Drilling and Water Supply

Company, he then became Project Manager in 2008 at E.T. Lucas
and Sons Well Drilling and Contractor Corporation. More years of
successful well drilling operations lie ahead for this young man, who
is following in the footsteps of his father –a master in the well drilling
operations himself.
LORENTTI T. VELASCO
He is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Aqua Haus, Inc.
Since 1987, he is the Vice President of Marty Machineries, Inc. where
he is also active in doing designs and estimates of pumping station
facilities. He is a Consultant in various corporations for more than 20
years like the ADB projects on rural water supply as well as in many
mechanical engineering works. He serves as the Vice President of
the Philippine Groundwater Society, Inc. at present and he also
became the past President of the Well Drilling Association of The
Philippines (WELDAPHIL). He is an expert in the principles and
practices of planning, design, and construction for water utility
projects.
LEONILA BRON
She obtained her degree of BS Geology in 1993 from the University of
the Philippines, Diliman, and her MSc in 2011 on the application of RS
and GIS to water resources and environmental management from
the University of Twente, Netherlands. She is a registered geologist in
the Philippines’ Professional Regulation Commission with more than
20 years accumulated experience in geology. Including source water
vulnerability assessment, evaluation of ground and surface water
availability, planning and design of conjunctive use of ground and
surface water, deepwell design, drilling supervision/rehabilitation, and
design and formulation of wellhead and watershed protection
