Instrument Violin

Scales

Double Stops

6th— more of a sliding motion

3rd

practice with dotted rhythm slurs to work on smoother transition

need to relax 1-3 when going to 2-4, bow

needs to stay on the string and two strings need to be evenly audible

top string is usually inaudible

A minor— change the fingering at the 3rd octave to avoid sliding (4-4)

Rode No.2

detache bowings— need to avoid lifting in bow transition, connect more

sound projection— bow hold, allow fingers to move to have a drop and pick-up
motion

bow travel as going to the lower strings

playing semitones at a faster tempo needs to be even closer

lower bow usage for the slurs

Rode No.2 and Kreutzer No.37— bow articulation notes and playing its character 1
lean into the string crossing, have more weight, to be on time and have the notes
connect

note down areas that are easier to breathe through, espeicaly the arpeggiated
passages

generally need to have a bigger dynamic range

pull the first note (E strings, high register)

can rubato at the end

Kreutzer No.37

longer staccato, more bow

chords—8th note— don’t hold the slur too long, even division, faster transition

aim for the chord but don’t linger, move forward to the next one

don’t press the 8th note, vibrato and more bow than the doublestop, enable the
sound to be brighter

connect 8th notes to semiquavers— grip and colle support for the 16th notes,
use strength from index

usually not consistent throughout, needs to be clear

higher position— need more bow weight to produce cleaner sound

whenever bite, need to release

even tone
