Drug Addicts should be punished

Drug addiction can have a lot of effects on the body. People who are addicted to drugs do it out
of habit and compulsion. They don't know what else to do with their lives except for getting
high on drugs every day. This means that they will continue doing it until they get caught or die
from it. In addition, some people who are addicted to drugs might end up killing themselves or
someone else after using drugs for a long period. Second, why drug addicts should be
punished? When you are high on drugs there is a big possibility of doing crimes. For example,
rape, sexual assault, robbery, a crime of violence, and more. The percentage of addicts who
relapse after jail continues to grow since there is no effective treatment plan given to inmates
who sit behind bars. Addiction is not only a disorder but a choice itself. Why? Yes, it is a
disorder but you can still prevent taking drugs by maintaining yourself from taking them. And a
choice because some people are addicted to drugs because they can't get enough of the drug
or because it provides them with a sense of pleasure.
When they first use a drug, people may perceive what seems to be positive effects. They also
may believe they can control their use. But drugs can quickly take over a person's life.
Therefore, if drug use continues, other pleasurable activities become less pleasurable, and the
person has to take the drug just to feel “normal.” They have a hard time controlling their need
to take drugs even though it causes many problems for them. These are the signs of an
addiction. They deserve to be punished. Punishment will stop them from committing further
crimes. Punishment discourages others from doing the same thing. Punishment is justice, not
unjust.
